With the new tech released I went back to my Marauder M5.

MAD-5M

2 Snub PPC (Right Arm)
3 Med Lasers (Left Arm)
LB 10-X (2 tons ammo)
TC 1
Light 300 engine
7 DHS
Ferro Armor
Standard Structure
394 / 462 armor

Med range / Brawling build.

Theory behind this is to strip the armor with the ppc's and med's and then punch thru with the 10-X.

Sorry, but BMW doesn't make a Marauder version...

Also, Endo-steel is more efficient than ferro. Will let you max your armor without changing the loadout.

Once armor on the legs is up, I'd move the ammo out of the CT.

No idea what you like to do on ur mechs, but ive found that gauss+2LPL+2ERML and a LFE-300 works very well for me. Its got a harassment weapon that doubles up as heat-free DPS when ur about to melt, it moves fast enough not to be left behind 95% of the time, and its not suicidal to run that gauss (XL would have been utterly stupid). Pretty generic though, you get 30 alfa strike every 3 seconds or so from the lasers, and you get 15 every 6 or so from the gauss. Ive had the most luck sticking to the rear of the team, and just picking a mech and in particular a component on that mech, and shooting it until it falls off or the mech dies. If you can avoid being focused and not play the trading game (45 alfa strike is nothing these days when clan aids vomit does 78 or even more if you throw in a secondary weapon), it rips mechs apart pretty fast, just try not to draw too much attention since that gauss has a very high chance of exploding and the mech tends to loose its arms quickly if you shield the gauss alot.

The other build ive had luck is uac-10 with the same energy loadout, runs cooler, and is alot better at sustained fire, but it does spread damage alot more and isnt quite as deadly to anything that isnt a barn door in size. that said, it lacks reliability vs the gauss model, and trying to bring a ac-10/20 is a bad idea imo too since 10 PPFLD is insignificant imo and the ac-20 is way too short ranged for 50% of games at least according to my playstyle (id love to brawl but at least 50% of maps are bad for that outside of a dedicated 12-man strat that revolves around brawling.

Anyways, there are all for the mad3r, the version i have (i consider the better structure quirks well worth the loss of 1 energy hardpoint). You might actually be better off with 1 less heatsink and 1 more ERML for even higher alfa striuke capabilities, but thats your call (id reccomend it since the build i have is cool running overall, but if you find it hot dont bring that 3rd ERML).

Here's some new tech for ya.

Heavy PPC and ER MediumLasers with some speed provided by a Light Engine. Stay at range and rain hell!

I know they are a love it or hate it kinda weapon system but I love MRMs.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...24c00533becbb1a

Because UACs are fun.

Again, I know RACs aren't considered competitive or whatever but I consider them fun and that's enough for me.

Sure a single gauss is cheaper and lighter and only does 1 less damage per shot but....... well but nothing. We're talking about new tech here so here's my attempt at making light gauss work....

MAD-5D

This is a similar variant, adds an MRM in exchange for a bit of speed.

Edit:

And if you feel like living dangerously there is also this
MAD-5D MRM 30

The mech is a furnace though so be careful of that.

You can also swap out the ER mediums for ER smalls. It becomes much more vulnurable in a knife fight though.

Ammo is a little light for my taste. If were to build it I'd go with an MRM30 and I wouldn't pair the MRMs with a PPC but rather a LPL.

If face time was an issue for me I'd swap out for something like this.

I like that build too, though I just noticed that he was actually looking for builds on the MAD 5M.

I say that if you're gonna go LBX on a marauder, you may as well go ham and pick up an LBX 20.

MAD-5M

I've used this build a couple times, though I think I actually have it on my 3R. It's one hell of a brawler.
