So, apparently even though they know exactly how many modules I have, pgi has decided to only refund the 5 or 6 that I purchased since Febuary 8th, and then have the gall to show me exactly how much all my modules is worth (515 million cbills worth if you're curious) and only give me 76 million in total for what was purchased within the small window they decided was refundable, so I just lost several years worth of play time making those cbills, so i just functionally got a reset on my account for my loss in value... so... I call ********? If I would have known this was going to happen I would have sold my modules before the patch and taken my 255 million cbills. and from what i understand, this is on the low side for whale players (the category i'm in) so now I have to decide if i'm pissed off enough about this to decide if i'm going to quit playing let alone never spend another dime on this game.

in short, thanks pgi, I appreciate that you considered your players when making this decision. as usual. you found the best way to sink out everyones cbills! and that's by simply taking them from us without giving us an option at all. so glad russ decided to favor the cheapskates with this little stunt, suddenly wish I wouldn't have spent all those cbills on modules so I wouldn't have to move stuff around, should have just got the 4 I needed and that was it.

anyone else get ******? how many cbills did you lose on this? share!

But they did bring it up. Just some people were hoping they would change their stance on the refund but they didn't. Clear warning was given.

What did you buy the modules for? So you could sell them later at half price? Or to improve the abilities of your 'mechs?

You were given a significant amount of GSP, which can now be used to upgrade said 'mechs.

Well you had an option to sell those modules before patch like everyone else, and most did.

TBH tens of thousands GSP is worthless, it's currency that you cannot really use if you have enough of it.

I can't argue with that.

To be fair though, nobody was about to buy 'mechs and weapons with their modules. I always considered c-bills that I spent on modules to be lost money.

So you can master/fully spec all your mechs, even those who were not having modules or master status before, AND receive 75milion to freely spend, AND you can buy mechs, of which you only need one variant of in the future, and master it directly..

Does not sound like a big loss to me..

It was mostly just a forum thing though. They should have made the ledger come up before the actual change with a message in game explaining the upcoming change. Also emails, did anybody get an email about this? I get emails all the time about mech packs but I didn't see anything about this. A lot of players don't check the forums (vocal minority as I recall), and some players take breaks.

Also modules could be sold whenever, so gsp should have that option as well. For at least 22,500cbills.

Well all the mech that I'm really playing are mastered those that are not I only own because old rule of 3 and I had no interest to play them and I will not unless something changes drastically. and I would have had enough GSP to master my next 270 mech, which is probably more than I will buy till this game does offline.
In my own case I sold modules worth ½BCBills before patch to gain ~250MCBills and still get enough GSP to master my next 90+ mechs

If people can't bother to read the forums, they would have ignored any pop ups on the Client to, unless they were forced to read it, line by line, before logging in. And that would have caused it's own crapstorm.

Seriously. Those inclined to actually pay attention had ample warning. Though that don't, could be beaten with a dead fish, and still be oblivious.

So I don't feel sorry for them.

Couple of issues there though. First, even if a lot wouldn't have read it, it is something that should have been done. Like I said, I get emails about mech packs all the time. A couple of emails about a major change like this should have been done. There is no reason not to.
Also I think plenty of people would have looked into it if they had been told via email or a in game pop up, especially if it was the ledger. I know I would have. Actually I've had other games do that for much smaller changes and it got me to go check it, and I didn't use their forums.

Whatever. Long time players who have been out of the loop for 6-12 months may have no idea whatsoever this was happening. You think they'll come back, see hundreds of millions of work gone and want to play?

No. They won't. They'll be furious and never support PGI again. This game is a wreck now. I would like to compare this move and how it was rolled out to the combat revamp of Star Wars Galaxies. It is and will kill players off like a gauss slug to the head.

As an intermittent player, I didn't know we would not get a full refund. I think that is BS.

Now I saw the patch and thought: "Hey, I'll check it out. Why not?"

Well, the answer to "Why not?" is because returning players got screwed.

Moreover, any change that advantages one group of players over another is always, inherently, a bad decision.

Personally, I'm happy with the refund..

I got plenty of everything, AND got 500+ MC just from air strikes and such that I got from events and never use..

And since Zoom Modules are cheap now.. I will have cbills left over ;-)

I am semi-retired, but have been waiting anxiously for this patch as an opportunity for a comeback, especially with new IS tech on the horizon. I couldn't be bothered to monitor the forums and patch notes closely, only saw a mention that the modules will be removed and refunded which seemed fair. I planned on downloading the patch after coming back from work so i decided to check the forums and what do I see? That only modules that were recently bought are being refunded? What the hell? Who thought this is a good idea? This is just a pure moronic, idiotic way to handle things and will cost the game another chunk of an already small playerbase. I just don't know what to say at this point and only swear words come to mind. And I am a very calm person.

Instead of money you get a lot of gsp and hsp for your modules and your mastered mechs, so you will be able to "install" modules on all of your mastered mechs for free and you will have lots of skill points left for experimenting with different builds and/or skilling new mechs.

You are losing no progress on your account as a returning player. PGI overcompensated people to ensure that no progress was lost. Some people may profit more than others, but no player has less than before the patch.

except you can't because those old mdules don't allow you to get 95skill nodes, you still only get those 91 skill nodes which you don't need GSP from moduels for. Those GSP are now there in masses no one needs.

technically not even true, a Module was a infinite reskil of a specific set of skillnodes for EVERY MECH at any wanted time, and the return of a module is NOT infinite in even a similar way.

"Long time" players that have not played for upwards of a YEAR have no interest in playing. "Long time" players that are not playing are not supporting PGI anyways, changes to skills will not change that.

"Long time" players that have not played for a YEAR, by your own words, have no idea what is going on in MWO and have no investment in the past years development, don't care if they are furious or not, they quit.

LOL, in no way is Pub.9 of SWG anywhere near this. Not even close or in the ball park.

Guess it pays to stay informed huh?
