First of all, I like the new skill tree system, and the disappearance of installable modules. However, the current way of displaying the skill tree makes it hard to find "good paths" that, say, maximize cooldown and range, since most skills are just represented by their title.

Suppose I want to see where all the cooldown skills are. Right now I need to gaze over every single node so get a general feeling for their location. It would be much better if we could use little filter buttons that highlight all skills of a certain type.

Also, working with colors and/or icons could be quite helpful. You could even reuse a lot of the icons from the previous skill system. Posted Image

I think the following would work quite well: Give every skill type an icon and a color value. By default, every skill's icon is monochrome-MWO-yellow and every skill's border color is a desaturated/darkened version of it's main color. When the user activates a filter, the appropriate skills' icons gain their regular kill color, as do the approriate skills' borders. Maybe the plethora of colours would be rather disturbing than helpful. In this case, just paint every selected skill type in bright yellow/red/green/whatever. Posted Image
