For brand new mechs (mech that have no user-chosen mods from the last skill system) The new skill tree is no problem. You're starting fresh.

However...

Respeccing your old mechs is a bit of a mess.

1) There is no logical reason why were having to jump back an forth between four different currencies. It should have one; Historic Skill Points (HSP, accumulated from each mech's previous status).

When you start out each mech should have HSPs (not a combined pool) That's what you can spend on respeccing your previously owned mechs until you use them up or click the "finished Respec" button. Once pressed, any remaining points not spent will be converted to GXP.

2) There should be no cost for using HSP, period. After the HSP Respeccing, then normal costs should apply.

3) There should be no introduction of XPs or GXPs in the respacing process. You spend ONLY what you already have in the mech at the time you choose to respec it. Anything else can be done outside the respeccing system.

This would be a far more efficient and easier to understand system, with far less player frustration.

Here's a few more;

4) There should be no cost to reactivate a node. You paid for it, you should be able to use it as you will.

5) Modules that were purchased with C-Bills before the change-over should be refunded in an equal amount of C-Bills, period.

6) Node unusable for your builds should be highlighted.

7) Include templates for the Skill Tree for the casual player, that would highlight nodes you might want to select to tune up your mech. A simple scheme for such templates as "Scout," "Fire Support," "Cool Running," "Command Mech" and others would go a long way to get players playing and not wasting time navigating the Skill Trees.

My suggestion would be to revert to the pre-patch system. It was working fine and was not especially complicated.

Hell. If I have enough SP, give me a "Buy the remaining tree as inactive nodes" and give me 400 xp/gxp back for each node.
That alone would save vast amounts of time for me.

Or a "buy as inactive" (which 1 SP does) or "buy active" checkbox (which costs and additional 400 xp/gxp as well)
