Just used a trial mech and was surprised that it earned no XP (not even GXP)! Would be better for new players to at least earn a little trickle of GXP while using trial mechs so they can use it on they mechs they do purchase.

Well, they do give everyone that completes the academy 48,000 GXP along with the C-Bill earnings. I sort of thought that was to give the new players a boost in leveling their Mechs.

All the XP I earned on the Trials went to waste because I never bought one of them but it sure would not hurt to have them get XP in case someone actually did want that variant.

I agree with this, the whole cadet status is supposed to make it so you can buy a mech and get your *** out of the trials so the GXP would be pointless.

So, Trial Mechs is the equivalent of getting screwed? I guess that's a new feature (ontop of obvious reasons why trial mechs need help).

48k gxp from cadet 25 buys sixty nodes. Most people end up buying their own mech before they've past the cadet 10 bonus, so likely would already have skilled the other 31 by the time they hit the final cadet bonus. This was all described in the patch notes though. Perhaps folks should actually READ the patch notes before making posts about something they just observed a couple days after a new patch.

48000 xp is generous, true, but that will just get you 60 SP. New players will be in trials for a long while (if only to not get bored playing the same mech over and over) and it would be good for them to get both XP and CBill progress when they do. I understand not getting mech xp (they have no mech to gain xp after all) but removing the gxp earnings as well seems to ve overly harsh on new players.

If it was in the patch notes then I have missed it and that is my bad. Doesn't take away from the point that new players need all the help they can get and earning gxp on trials will certainly help. I was able to accumulate 100k gxp on my alt account and at least half of that was earned using trials. I don't like the idea of new players missing out on that amount of customization that makes the game so much more fun.
