Is there a reason not to convert the Historical XP to XP?

Convert on more than one mech of that variant.

If your mech is mastered, just save it.. If you ever need extra you can convert it, Or use it to level another mech of the same type by transferring it to that one instead. It's basically banked XP to use on any future mech
