If you click Respec it gets rid of all your skills and points. In other games it gives you the stuff back to spend again. I can't get the skills back I had before help Posted Image Should I contact a GM?

I had ALL these skills before, then clicked respect: It should of gave me the points back to spend again, but now I have nothing.

You still have all of them. However, it will take 400xp per node to reactivate them. Never do a full respec. There is no reason to do so. Just turn off the nodes that you do not want to use and then unlock the new ones you want to use.

Unfortunately, there is no way to undo it at this point.

So no other role playing games you know of have a cost to respec your whole skill tree? You know, like 99.99% of them out there.

It's been in the patch notes and PTS news updates every single time. "Cost to reequip a node you previously removed is 400 xp".

You can change the nodes around to your hearts content up until the time you hit the Apply button. You can even go into the Mech lab and look at how they are affecting you Mech by checking the Mech Stats tab and looking at your loadout screen. Once, you hit the Apply button they are locked to those nodes.

Make your views on it heard but right now there is no way to undo it.

No. The first time I saw a respec system it was free the first time, then cost credits for a week and got a free reset every week.

Some people don't read patch notes. I expect to see that kind of warning IN THE GAME. Your an idiot if you think everyone plays the game like that.

Then I will just take my 15+20$ back or call the bank. Not my first money i've spent either, it is just since this stupid system was released.

This new system is both PUNISHING, and confusing. It doesn't give any warnings but punishes you hard. Especially if your new and didn't read anything. This is simply poor development. The old system didn't punish you nearly as hard, and now I have a worthless mech I can't play because there is no point to playing without skills vs skills.

But seriously. Don't call it respec if its not respec. It is disrespec in my opinion.

In a good game, it will give you a warning like:

"WARNING: IF YOU RESPEC to regain skills you have previously learned it will cost 400 experience. ARE You SURE?"
"Yes" "No"

"Are you positive?"
"Yes" "No"

If its gonna be like that.

Once purchased skills should cost nothing to reapply.

PGI has completely broken the game and is simultaneously punishing and stifling exploration and experimentation.

This 400exp tax is the equivilant of not being able to keep a weapon you have purchased in your store room, its rediculous.

I dont care if i had to pay more the first time round, oncce i have a skill i should be able to freely reapply it if i want to.

I've said it before: PGI loves battletech, but they do NOT UNDERSTAND modern gaming. At all. UI, grind, matchmaking, and even the ability to communicate with other players in and out of a match.

I REALLY wish PGI would get someone on their staff that plays other games, just for the influence that could bring.

Many of us have tried for 5+ years to get PGI to put in a huge social lobby system in the main UI where players could talk to players and ask questions so this type of mistake does not happen because you could ask questions and get advice from veteran players that would help overall game play.

But Russ and PGI don't get it I agree about the Social needs of game players the sad fact is we old guard PC MechWarrior/battletech players had this Social option almost 15 years ago with the MSN gamming zone.

Oh this is a post about hand holding. OP wants his hand held.

Yes it would be nice if there was a notice or we had better information on game modes, skill tree, etc in game but we don't, so use common sense. Lots of common sense. That or come here and ask.
