Thanks.

So if I understand you correctly, ECM is now a much smaller bubble around my Mech. Enhanced ECM makes that bubble bigger, right?

In your opinion, if I don't take it, will my ECM-equipped Mech be sufficiently protected from LRM assaults farming remote locks on Polar Highlands? (They rarely ever have TAG.)

(I will however take Enhanced ECM for the sake of my team.)

It works 2 ways.

Enhanced ECM makes your bubble bigger, and the bubble that the enemy has to be in to target you MUCH smaller.

The latter being the crucially important part, the former being relatively meh outside escort mechs.

Not worth it. You are better at investing in Radar Derp than ECM.

I still use it for ECM mechs that poke, and lights, simply to hide the paper doll...but otherwise, yes.

the cloak of skill can be useful on an assault, and it's pretty useful on maps where visibility is limited. At least when I'm solo dropping.

the trick is you wanna stick near your teammates. Most of the time in my stk-3fb i stick near whomever i think has the biggest damage output and support them with the ecm and 4 lpl and 2 er mediums. The downside is because i need to go deep in sensor operations and mobility, i need to choose between offense and defense with the remainder of my points.

Equip it on mechs that use ECM

It increases the effective radius of your ecm up to 75% of before patch and should be taken on lights or mechs that stay with teammates.

however due to senor perks ecm is still less good than it was before even if it werent for the -25% range.

The enhanced ECM skill does NOT increase ECM range. The Enhanced ECM nodes decrease the effectivness of enemy sensor detection of the mech using the ECM and any friendly mechs covered by the enhanced ECM.

So to clearify.

The ECM skill nodes increase the distance your mech will remain undetected by enemy sensors.

Basically, if you have ECM on your mech, you should seriously consider getting both nodes, and at the bare minimum get 1 of them (might as well snag 3 of the radar derpivations since it never hurst to have it). If you do not use the sensor tree, the benfits of ECM are so negligible that you are better off not even bringing ECM at all at this point and getting another ERML, DHS, or a ton of ammo. Ofc, if you actually went for radar derp in the first place, its ONLY 2 more nodes so no brainer, get it. I have 100% radar derp on every mech with no exceptions just because its a quality of life thing and really screws over people who use locking missiles and denies enemies the ability to see what is damaged on ur mech when ur poking out for a second or 2 to fire lasers.

ECM shouldnt grant stealth though. They need to remove that ability.

And give it other abilities like creating fake radar contacts. Or cutting people off from sharing sensor information with their team. Things that ECM actually does in battletech.

ECM does this already.

If you have ever seen static over your minimap with LOW SIGNAL on it, or seen the "three bars" icon on your HUD or over a 'mech targeting box, you (or that unit) are being affected by enemy ECM. If you are inside the ECM bubble of an enemy ECM unit in Disrupt mode, you will not share sensor data with your team -- you cannot broadcast lock data to them, and you cannot receive lock data from them. NARC beacons inside an ECM bubble similar do not broadcast to the team outside of the bubble.

ECM in Counter mode disables one enemy ECM unit within the bubble.

As someone who LRMs, I hate to have to recommend both ECM nodes and Derp. If you don't carry derp (just ECM) I can still lock you if one of my buddies is close enough (it just takes longer to lock on) and if you break LOS, I have skills to keep that lock. Derp will break that lock INSTANTLY when you break LOS. It's really easy to tell when someone has derp vs. no derp.

I have found with my ECM Mechs, having the ECM nodes is worth it and they cost 1 Node less than full Radar Deprivation in the same tree.
