Before I got Mechwarrior 2 fully working again, I had some trouble getting the music to work in the game. I played a few missions and realized that it just isn't the same without the music. One of the greatest aspects of Mechwarrior 2 was its amazing soundtrack.

Even with the limitations back then, this beast of a soundtrack was composed. Now, back to my main question, would you, or would you not want an epic soundtrack - a specific feel for each map. I personally believe it would make the game more intense and enjoyable if done correctly, and of course, if you don't like the music, you can turn it off obviously.

Now here's some good 'ol nostalgia; one of my favorite tracks of all time.

lol SteelWolf

but ya i dont see why there shouldnt be music. I mean just have an option to turn it on and off so that way anyone that just wants to hear the humms of the mechs moving and blowing the crap out of each other can do that.

I saw music a few times, man those were some memories, just don't turn the lights on when you see music, or it will destroy you

Well, other then some of our mechwarriors (whose use of elicit drugs and/or alchohol has disorientated their senses. :) ) I would like to hear some good old fashion heavy metal/techno/computer sythesized mechwarrior 2 style music. mechwarrior 3 and 4 had decent sound tracks.

Would love to see a mp3/cd player in the cockpit that we could use.

First thing I change in the option screen in ANY Mechwarrior game? Turning the bloody "music" off. (followed by increasing the gamma a lot, as MW tends to be set rather murky).

Even if it was particularly good music, I ain't playing it to feel like I am in a movie. I want the sim aspect. That means, I want the whir of the gears, the whoosh of the missiles, the staccato bark of the AC, and the crack of the lasers (which of course they never get right, instead making some high pitched sound, when the superheated air pocket collapsing on itself should sound more ballistic, actually)

All you here about is people worrying about the resources needed to support this game.. so why waste it on music? If you need some,. burn yourself a playlist and kick up your stereo.

I'd rather scrag Clanners with Odin on my Side, rocking to Amon Amarth than to anything the game could provide.

Though I would be curious to see some folks "gaming playlists".

I am also fond of the idea of implementing remixes of older game music. This one from OC ReMix is pretty good.

MW3 just reused MW2 music for 3 tracks.

Personally, I would rather each player provided his/her own music for the game without forcing his choices onto others. There are too many different opinions as to what is "good music" . I would prefer Celtic war music with lots of bagpipes myself, but I don't think there are too many others who would find that as pleasant as I do!

Something in mechlab, maybe even influenced by the faction you choose.

In the fight, well, it would probably be a bit counterproductive.

I said no. I would prefer developer time be spent on the core aspects of the game instead of the music that we will all turn off after a while so we can play whatever we like.
