Greetings MechWarriors. Today I have a simple question. How are your Marauder and Marauder IICs post skill tree and requirkening VI? Have you noticed any difference? How do you spec them in the skill tree?

Both my Marauders love the new tree. The dual ERPPC has improved a lot. Was to hot before but with less agility and other nodes was able to cool it down enough.

The ones I shoot at seem to be a bit tankier.

Absolutely loving my IIC and IIC-A. The IIC went through a couple of laser vomit build with LPLs + ERMLs and LPLs + MPLs but I settled on quad LPLs for the time being. It might sound ******** due to the ghost heat, but hey, it works surprisingly well, as long as you only alpha when you're positive you'll get to cool down in peace afterwards. Double Cool Shot certainly helps, as does the operations tree for the two cool run nodes. Went for the burn duration nodes in the fire power tree, got half the agility tree and dumped the remaining points in suitability.
My IIC-A is running twin UAC10s and twin ERPPCs. Kinda slow since it's running a 325 engine, but with the engine desync, I'd say it okay to downsize the engine. The damn thing felt pretty nasty on Polar just now, but I didn't play it a lot yet. Skills are similar: Went down the firepower tree to get the ammo boost and UAC jam chance reduction, about half the agility tree, 'cause that's where it started feeling fine to me and dumped the rest in survival.
On the IS side, played the 3R and BH2. The 3R Feels solid enough, thanks to structure quirks meshing well with the survival tree. The ammo boost frees up tonnage, too. Been running triple AC5 and dual LB10X on it, might need to try a PPC build, though. Dunno, haven't really found its niche yet, but I think it's a good foundation regardless. Went for the ammo boost, again, especially with the triple AC5. LBX spread reduction for the LBX, of course. Went all out on the survival tree and dumped the remaining points in agility.
The BH2... Eh. Building around six to seven MLs is meh. That just-above-brawling range you get, even with maxed range nodes, can really bite you if you get to play on Polar Highlands or some other sniper-friendly map. I tried to max out range on the MLs, so I went pretty deep into the fire power tree. Rest went wherever.
Can't say much about any other MAD variants, to be honest. Also, not sure about the skills. It's probably not the best idea to avoid sensors altogether, but I've never been big on Seismic and I've been doing well enough without Radar Derp, so eh. The objectively most impactfull tree is consumables, I guess, but outside of double Cool Shot, I'm really not feeling halting my C-Bill grind for a slightly better match performance. I generally feel that the difference between the "best" and an "okay" skill build isn't going to be that significant, either way.

I run a Marauder 3R with 2 PPC and 2 AC/5 (and 2 SPL). It loves the skill tree. The velocity and heat quirks play right into both main weapons, allowing a fire pattern of 30-10-30-10... I had to buy all the torso speed skills to get it back to where it was before the engine decouple, but it feels just as good as pre-patch. And it runs cooler.
Now bring on the Light Fusion Engine. When it goes from a 300 XL to a 280 LFE, it will be tankbot supreme!

They're straight tanks, tankiest tanks of the heavy weight class right now.
IS MAD is straight tank.
MAD IIC is tanky but not as much as the IS MAD, but that's due to the survival tree being weak for assaults.

http://steamcommunit...s/?id=927360460 Is what the new skill tree allows my triple PPC maruaderiic to do.

My Marauders feel about the same. Being able to shorten the duration on the Medium lasers allows some new options that were previously mediocre to work much more reliably, as static face-time with Marauders is wasting their spreading potential. They still feel a little under-gunned, though.
Their agility also feels more or less the same as it did, I don't even max it out; I spend the minimum to maximize speed-tweak on my faster versions (75+) and nothing at all on my slower ones. On those, the points go into the Survival tree.
Dragon and Roughneck can actually tank even better than the Marauder, especially the Dragon with more stock armor and roughly similar geometry.

The 2 UAC5 2 PPC build feels overall better than it was before. Can't wait for the LFE.

Here's a fun one:
Pull out your Black Widow and stick 2x LPL and 2xUAC/5 on it with a STD 275. Quirk for range, duration, and UAC jam chance in firepower, grab operations, and watch some magic happen.

I'm out of town, away from my rig until after the holiday. I'm avidly reading these forums in the meantime, gleaning any advice I can and dying to get my hands on the skill tree.
Any advice for a 2xGauss + ERPPC IIC-D?

And check out the Dragon's natural agility. The Engine decouple was VERY friendly to that mech, it torso twists faster than most mediums and some lights. Can't WAIT to put a light fusion engine in one!

They feel about the same for the clan marauders and slightly worse for the IS marauders that aren't the good ol' 3R. Mostly because of the giga structure. That's just my opinion though, and I'm just one player
