I'm going to build myself that LRM5 Huntsman, I need a new gimmick to give xXPugXx conniptions.

A Huntsman with 8x LRM5 is actually extremely annoying. It can put out some decent damage and kills, but its purpose is not to be a real powerhouse, it's supposed to be an irritating nuisance that just doesn't go away.

Also, I have been working on improving my skills with "bad builds". I've got a Nova Breaker build given to me by one of my unit mates to try to see if I can squeeze out some good damage in it: LRM5, SRM2, 3x Flamer, LB5X. So far, in 3 matches, I've gotten a total combined of less than 400. But each match I've played in it, I've increased my damage output.

I don't think anything will ever beat this build for me.

Posted Image

Nota bene: this wasn't during Tuk, but it's by far the worst build I have ever seen in the field.

i think ive seen derp bring 1 or 2 of those and wreck face with 2 lances of reserve lrm boats. i remember that build actually did really well on domination on alpine. it stood on the hill, used its arms to narq hard to hit targets, then ran off before the erll focused it down. worked pretty well.

Yes, so very Yes. The engine desync was glorious to the stock urbie. Grab some 9 pts on the mobility tree to get three torso twist speeds buffs, an then go all in on the survival tree, and you're a tanky little sword an boarder.

I've managed to put out 27 rounds of Ac 20 ammo whilst on the front lines on my little Ac20 machine. Glorious, just glorious.

Until you just smash it in the CT with 55 pt of LPL.

It's not a powerhouse, it's not even annoying. It is a flat out T5 crapbucket.

Running bad builds does not improve skills.

Very effective at forcing a target to seek or maintain cover. Not to mention 'psychological' effects in the heat of combat.

Build used if you're narc-ing for a team.

MWO requires you to have one offensive weapon. That's why the flamer.

PS - I have two of them and one is a MLX-C. :-)

Be warned brother ... if Ash or any of the pr!cks in here
catches up to you ingame while you are in that thing above ...
You better take a heroic pose right before they snapshot your sh@t.

Cause that mech deff has its spot in here.

Don't have a pic but saw a BLM 2C on my team running a bunch of small lasers and 2 LRM 20s with about 15 tons of ammo. Told him his build was pure eyerape, even for a scrub like me. How does one butcher a BLM that bad?

Haveing seen this post I went and played my 1st Game since TukTukTuk, when I died earlier than usual because I had bad 1st time deck for the map/way team played (still did most damage) I had a look at some of teams builds, and they were bad enough for me to take printscreens, this is 6 of the 10 mechs I got visuals of before game ended, 1 clan 5 IS.

I think the last one with 5500 rounds of mg ammo for 3 mg is my favourite

What is wrong with the first Warhammer 6R? Is it the use ERLL and/or that they were placed in the arms? Max armor, Endo, 20DHS and STD 300 but overall, weapon placement and such is the same as the stock Warhammer. I am aware it is not the most optimal use of a warhammer but players will build their mechs based on their previous experience. 3LPL, isXL , etc in a pug environment does not work for everyone, especially if said pug team is not aggressive often enough.

As for that second Warhammer 6R, I have nothing for it :) except it would be capable of running a Stock 340. The Zeus, I ran one similar to that for 3 games but with Gauss Rifle but no LRMS. Fragile with the isXL, did end up with 3 headshots across 3 Invasion drops, 2 of them against Clan units but each time died with loss of one ST.

Exactly, this isn't something I take into a match on my own. It's something I bring in with my team and use for its purpose.

Oh, it won't take one of them to catch me and make me pay for taking this build. I've yet to break 200 in it. I think the handicap -SmokeHazardKGB- gave me with this loadout is solid enough to keep me from putting out any reasonable damage in it. Another unit mate had me try 3xERSL, 2x LRM5, and 1x LB2X. First match in I was over 300, and I'm sure with a few more matches I could get that up over 500.

Also take note, this is on my Nova Breaker which I have spent 0 skill points on.

When I'm running that Huntsman, I'm either firing from the group with my team keeping the enemy's cockpit shaking, keeping the "Incoming Missiles" alert going, highlighting where enemy support mechs are by triggering their AMS, or I'm positioning myself where I can hit enemies and drive them out of cover into direct fire line of sight so that the group ERLL/Gauss/PPC focus can drop targets quickly.

I know you think that running bad builds does not improve skill. I slightly disagree with that. It forces you to be much more situationally aware of what you're doing, where your placing yourself, where your teammates are, and what shots you can take without missing. It's also demonstrated the benefit of running AMS on almost all of my mechs that can mount it. I'm not saying that it gives universal improvements but it does make you more conscious of what you're doing.

Edit: Grammar
