I actually like the idea of the skill tree.
Unfortunately, either I have had bad luck with the matchmaker since its implementation - or - it is too complicated for the population.
Game quality now is complete ****.

I will have to check it again, but I think we saw a lot of more stomp games after it was introduced. I notice that I do better then before the tree, but I have suspicion it might be just because other players hadn't leveled their mechs properly, or at all.

I share the concerns that some people just don't bother with the skill tree, or the skill tree is impactful enough that people playing new mechs are at a larger disadvantage than they used to be in the old system. I think that in the latter case there's just not too much to be done except side-ways upgrades where some stats are sacrificed to be better at others, which would require a complete redesign.

Today I figured out what it's like.
It feels that same as combining levelling a mech (which I hate), with the MM behaviour from about year 2, which is to say a massive upswing in 12:3 or worse matches. and I hate being rolled over, and I don't really enjoy rolling over either.
Hell, I skip the 3 hours from 02:00 UTC because it's basically continuously like that.
All in all, I really am not enjoying it at all.

I find its not the nodes its the pathing. If we bought the links between the nodes instead of the nodes themselves the links could have increased SP costs. It would be cheaper in C-bills and XP to follow the default path that PGI created but would cost more nodes. To take a connection to a node out side of that would cost a multiplier of that (say 5), So to skip around speed retention the link would cost 5 SP instead of 1. Node saved for elsewhere but much more expensive over all, it would be cheaper to follow the default path.
This gives a reason to keep tweaking your mech, master it as much as possible and then go back and respec out of the nodes you don't want by spending more xp and cbills

The problem it's i really don't know what the skill tree added to the game beside the time needed to sort it out...
I have now so many SP and GXP that changing nodes is not a problem at all until the game die but for new players... i'm not sure it's so easy to learn their mech and to find the good nodes for it while getting kicked by full spec battlemech and Tier 1 Pilots in pug games...
I'm playing my Atlas a lot less than before... but enjoying my new Warhawk and my old Blacknight that was decrepit with the nerfing.

I'm just gonna bump this.
We've reached the point where I'm not sure if I want to try to get my friends to play this game anymore. I was telling them about this update and I was looking forward to it but...
(I just had a great little match or two. Definitely want more of those with my buddies)
