So I'm trying to finish filling the IS stable of heroes. Here's what I'm down to of the heroes that I'm interested in and don't yet own (and also have enough MC to afford):

X-5 - I need a good 40 tonner. I don't know that this is it, but it's in play
Fang/Flame - I could also use a 60 tonner, but dragons have been bad for so long
Butterbee/Jester - I own other catapults, so I don't see needing a butterbee. I don't know that I need more 65 ton laser vomit either. I own thunderbolts.
Legend Killer - I still need a 60 tonner, but I don't see many riflemen around. Are they that squishy?

I could also just sit on this MC until the K-9 and Ghillie come out, or maybe get some camo and dekkals.

Cicadas in general are pretty good so the X-5 should be no different.

Fang/Flame are iffy. The Skill tree and the structure/armor quirks have made them at least playable now but I can't seem to find a build I really like for my Flame even with the new tech.

Jester is one of my favorite mechs of all times. It is a must buy in my opinion. Butterbee not so much unless you are a fan of Catapult missile boats.

Legend Killer I have mixed feelings about. Its quirked heavily in favor of LB-10x cannon but I don't feel it has enough tonnage to really use them well and it at least previously forced them to use XLs when they weren't really XL friendly. I haven't invested in a re-build for my LK yet with the new tech but the LFE might help it out and make it decent.

Im considering buying Flame for a build like this
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e887e253fa34f4d

Of course its not all that different from my bounty hunter, but I kinda always wanted Flame just because

I have all but the LK, and those I know who have it, seem to really enjoy it. Of those I have experience with...

I have not run my X-5 since I mastered it two years ago. There are other mechs that can do 2 SRM6 and 4 ML and do it better (even the Jenner at least has jump jets).

Flame/Fang are both mediocre but like many heroes can be fun. Beware that what limited uses they have are owed exclusively to quirks. If/when PGI reduces their defensive quirks in particular they will be cast back in to the bottom of the trash heap (now they are probably still in the heap, but just not at the bottom).

BB and Jester are both great. Jester is one of my favorite mechs. It moves beautifully and it feels far more agile that a Tbolt-Se even with the same engine and a couple of JJ (keeping in mind that the Jester can do a much larger engine than the tbolt).

So of your choices, I'd go Jester. Hell with new tech I may just buy another one now that I think about it.

the x-5 is the most interesting of those, but it's not any great shakes really

fang and flame don't really do anything you can't do with another dragon, which makes me pretty uninterested in owning one (flame has the same hardpoints as the 1C and worse quirks, /boggle)

riflemen are okay, but most most people probably prefer to just run a jaeger or roughneck instead (JM6-S is basically a legend killer that gets a lot more structure and isn't as locked into LBX.) Some potential use filling out FP dropdecks though

the jester is really nice: good profile, nice quirks, jumps. But if you don't want another 65 ton energyboat then you don't.

I like the X5 with XL320, 2xSRM4, 4xML. However it's kind of similar but arguably inferior to the XL340 6xML champion build on the CDA-2A (which I guess now might take ERML's).

I got the Legend Killer from the sale. Turns out you can fit in an LFE250 with the LB-10X's with 4 ton ammo plus 4xERML and 11 DHS. I'm liking it.

I'm just torn on what the new dropdeck is going to look like at 250

85-70-60-35?
85-70-65-30? <-- I can fill this one out happily
70-70-70-40?

The LK is a great mech.
