It seems like a few people are still confused about how the relation between HSP, PPC, ERC, PWX or whatever acronyms are out there. And honestly, who has got time to read that 50 pages of patch note? So I've made a comprehensive guide with just 9 pictures of everything that you need to know around your way to a better tomorrow.

First, what are you looking at? This is the main UI window. You will immediately see 2 stats, 2 clickable buttons, 1 textbox, and 2 lines of information on upper right hand side.

The 2 lines of information are just like the old days where you have MechXP and GXP. None of this has changed.

The textbox is for transferring HXP (our first NEW acronym, stands for "Historic XP") to MechXP. Historic XP is what you have earned from playing before the patch. That's basically it. Now, it might be tempting to just dump single HXP into MechXP, but the reason why that text box is there is because of multiple copies of the same chasis. For example, you may have 2 EBJ-A, for example. In which case, you might not want to dump everything in EBJ-A "Thunderchild" because you will have ZERO HXP to transfer for use in EBJ-A "River Dance." But let's circle back to this one.

The 2 clickable buttons are "Add SP" and "View Ledger." Basically, "View Ledger" is just for you to brag on the forum about how much refund you got from PGI. So, let's skip that for now. And just focus on "Add SP" (SP stands for "Skill Point")

Once you click on "Add SP", you come up with this even more puzzling screen. But don't worry, this is what this guide is about.

There are only 2 choices despite what looks like 6. There is the right, or the left. And really, that's all you need to know about this screen.

First, let's assume you chose the "red" option on the left. What you came up with, are 2 sliders. One for GSP, and the other is for HSP. GSP stands for "General Skill Points" and HSP stands for "Historic Skill Points."

GSP calculated by all modules purchased before Dec. 9th of 2016. PGI basically gave you a super good rate to convert your old module worth of CBill to "General Skill Points."

Note: General Skill Points are shared among your ENTIRE ACCOUNT. If you run out, you run out. So make sure you use them wisely.

HSP is given based on how much mechs you have mastered before of the same chasis. So lets assume in the previous example, because you completely mastered EBJ-A, and due to the fact that you have both "Thunderchild" and "Rain Dancer," you will receive 91x2 = 182 points of HSP. 91 is the magical number because no mechs thus far, can have more than 91 nodes active at a time. So when you transfer, make sure you don't transfer more than 91 initially.

So the order goes... if you mastered a mech previously, use the HSP first. Say you only basic-ed them, then use the 21 or 23 points of HSP first, then move additional GSP to give you a total of 91. You can see your total on the bottom right box. In my screenshot, you can see that I move 8 GSP and 8 HSP, and purchased a total of 16 SP.

When you are finished, click "ok."

Now let's assume you click on the "blue" and went "right," You will come to this ^ screen. This is where you can purchase SPs with your MechXP, GXP, or HXP. (+Cbill).

So as explained, MechXP is what you earned from playing. GXP is the same GXP from before. And HXP is what you earned from playing before the Patch.

Everytime you move a slider, you will notice the subtotal change. For every SP purchase, it will be 800 XP AND 45,000 Cbills. From the slider above, you can see that I move to purchase 9 points from GXP, thus, costing me 405,000 CBill and 7200 GXP. Remember how I said not to dump HXP into MechXP right away? You can choose to adjust your method of payment individually here, rather than have a merge right off the bat.

ALWAYS use HXP first. Now, there's always that pesky 231 points that's unusable. Well, that's when you use the textbox in the Main UI screen to transfer the rest into MechXP. Note, when you finish transfering all HXP (meaning, they are used up) whether by combing them with MechXP OR used them all to buy SP... the transfer textbox from the Main UI screen will disappear.

Half of you are probably asleep. So to jolt everyone's attention again, did you know there are only 2 escalators in the entire STATE of Wyoming? Isn't that crazy?????

Now the fun part, after furiously clicking on EVERYTHING you like, I want you to note several numbers on the right. First, in the SP column near the top, where it says 1 right now. That's how much SP you purchased through the above 2 screenshots. In this example screenshot, I only purchased 1.

Second, is the "Node Active" That's how much nodes you have actually active in the entire skill tree. If you are perfectly at 91, it will show a symbol of the US Airforce... for some reason. Too much, it will show a red text of maybe... 94/91 or something like that.

The second number is the "Allocated" near the bottom of the display. The difference between "Node Active" and "Allocated" is that "Allocated" is how much node you actually click on, for the CURRENT ACTIVE session. Meaning, say Wednesday, you put 10 points. On Thursday, you decided to click on 10 more points. You will have 20/91 "Note Active" and only 10 "Allocated." This is very useful to determine how much you are actually spending for that session.

Note: If you allocated MORE points than you have SP available, the allocated Text becomes Red like in the above screenshot. I clicked on 8 nodes, but I only have 1 SP available. IF I want the red text to go away, I need to go back to "Add SP" and add 7 more points from either the "red" or the "blue."

When you are ready, click "Apply" and come up with this screen. Being a cheapskape that I am, I only purchased 1 Kinetic Burst. Most of the time, your total will only be from SPs. So what are the possible scenario for XP and GXP????

Posted Image

For sake of demonstration, let's assume... Kinetic Burst sucks, and I don't want it anymore.

First, I have to unclick Kinetic Burst, then click "Apply." Unfortunately, AFTER you click "Apply", system will not refund you any SP for making a PURCAHSED node INACTIVE. Any node that's "inactive" will appear with a highlighted border like the above ^ screenshot.

But, lets say after playing several games, I've decided, Kinetic Burst is awesome because an Awesome is running circles around me, making my life not so... awesome.

So I NEED Kinetic Burst back like a fat man and his hoagie. I have 2 ways to make it active again. First, is through GXP by scrolling to the left of the node.

Second is through MechXP through the right of the node. This is a very easily missed element. Make sure you choose the correct one! For veterans and new mechs, they might have a lot of GXP but no MechXP. Thus, you will be like, why isn't this working? Why doesn't the yellow Apply button light up? Well, that might be why because you forgot to click the GXP instead of the XP side of the node.

DO TAKE CAUTION because this is SUPER DUPER annoying when you invest a new node AFTER REACTIVATING an old one through the wrong method. Cause, then you have to backtrack every single node to make sure that you didn't accidentally forgot to click MechXP when you meant to click GXP.

After you are satisfied with the reactivation, go ahead and click "Apply." Now, the total screen will show you the total in MechXP or GXP insead of SP.
-----------------------

I hope this brief and boring guide (and yes... I almost fell asleep typing this) will help you on your journey to be a super potato. I look forward to farming you for many many games in the days to come. Come get me, bro!

(or sis, I don't discriminate)

Before you go, thanks for making it this far, here's another fun fact:

Try saying "Don't you dare!" without the truncation. Sounds weird, right?
