I know that it's possible for the gathering team to lose a scouting match even if they're standing in their extraction zone when the timer runs out, if the pilot determines that the extraction site is too hot, however I cannot for the life of me figure out what causes this to occur. My two best guesses would be that it occurs if the people in the dropzone are being shot, just as being shot stops a base or point capture in other modes, or that it occurs if an enemy is standing in the extraction zone next to the would-be extractee, however I know from experience that neither of these is the case. As I haven't found an explanation by searching for one, can someone here please explain to me this mysterious phenomenon?

Lag, I imagine, but I agree.

Scouts should not be allowed to extract and win if the DZ is occupied. It happens in reality-no dropship or helicopter pilot is going to stay on station if the DZ is too hot.

Still, until we do get a solution, try Pulse Lasers, focusing fire, moving in intercept paths to cut off enemy retreat flights, and aiming for legs or CTs.

I seem to recall (from previous titles) that dropships have ridiculous numbers of hitpoints and are armed to the teeth in general. (ok, in the other games it's mostly hrothgars, which are bigger, but same idea, right?)

A dropship isn't going to be scared of 200t of mediums. In all likelyhood, if this were not a game/timed thing, the ds would just sit there until threated by a thing that's actually a threat or the scouts are dead.

If a black hawk helicopter (or whatever) was armed and armoured like a fortress, you'd find them hovering real close on insertions/extractions.

Dropzone too hot when you are in the square means you probably stepped out at 0 seconds by accident (easy to do when smoke diving). If you are in there at zero, you win.

They're called "HINDs" and the Russians have had them for years.

Which is why you tend to either call in Artillery or get CAP to strafe them prior to and during the assault.

If you stand directly below a dropship here, you won't be shot. The turrets can't hit you.

Well, if you want to get tabletop technical, aerodynes can't hover, and spheroids vaporize everything underneath them with their drive plumes...

In tabletop if I saw 4 mechs parking like that I would totally stall out my dropship and do the mother of all DFAs.

Leopard Dropships are going to be in the next Mechpack.

No seriously, we should be able to shoot Dropships. They should take damage!

and that could be a valid tactic, if you know their whole team is lights and will be hard to pin and take down, just bring a lot of firepower and pop the dropship before they can evacuate.

Ofcorse clan would have to have 55 ton drop limit back *cough* *cough *
