If mech A is smart those legs would be gone pretty quickly since you can't twist those away.

Back when I was with CGBI, I remember we had a sibkin training exercise called "leg shielding" ;)

No, leave them they way they are, more tonnage, more damage, less range, less duration.

Pulse work pretty well as they currently do, a little more standardisation of the burn times wouldn't go astray though, they are kind of all over the place right now.

Lasers and particularly the upcoming Heavy lasers, in my honest opinion should have generally higher burn times, but in functionality should require a player to hold down the mouse to continue the full burn, this way a person shooting the could cut off shots mid volley if required, damage could be overall quite large (with high burn times it should be) and heat could be high, as it would come down to a players management of them vs a targets ability to dodge/twist damage away. The weapon cooldown would start after you let go or when the natural burn time has run its course.

Obviously a number of posts on the up coming Laser changes.

I mention this in each of them but it of course gets lost in the detailed calculations on burn time and damage and heat.

So currently Pulse lasers are like lasers with shorter burn time and more heat. Not really any different in the scheme of things.

Instead they should act like machine guns of the laser world.

I.e. hold down the trigger for constant stream of damage and heat build up.

The damage could be delivered in packets or as a straight DoT.

This change would then allow for lasers to have the burn times adjusted because they are different to pulse lasers.

I'm thinking that we will get our "constant stream lasers" in the form of micro lasers..

I would love that.. a nice 9 micro laser stream from my EXE.. Posted Image

look with MPL you have about 0.6 sec face time and then 3 sec cooldown.

If you were just to do same damage with face time (other factors can be adjusted) I don't see how that is any better than the 0.6 sec face time.

Normal lasers could then have reduced burn time and longer cooldown.

I am sure that one will be prefered over the other in competition play but that's the case with everything in anycase.

there is no mechanical difference between normal and pulse lasers at the moment. Might as well call pulse lasers "short beam duration lasers"
