Could we please get new camo schemes?

Putting more camos would be an ideal source of revenue for PGI and boost Steam user and Steam Wallet purchases. Reduce the pricing and people will purchase more often.

For example:

Faction Specific camos
Unit Specific - ie. Davion Guard, Ryoken, Genyosha, Drakkons
Desert/Winter/Summer/Jungle for each faction
WW2 - ie. Dunkelgelb, Whitewash, Field Grau
Coldwar - ie. Flecktarn

Faction specific already exist, but only for certain mechs.
Go to the Store and preview mechs like the Timberwolf and Zeus in the mechlab (then in the Mechlab, select the "camo spec" button).

I think they need to fix and/or add more the faction camos.
Wolf camo = Horrible scribbles all over.
Jade Falcon camo = Might as well just paint your whole mech green. The camo's built-in green overrides most colours, and completely cancels them out in low-light maps like Frozen City Night.

In general I like the idea of more camos, so I voted YES.
Gotta say though... For WW2 camos, we already have the Sherman. What other camo are you wanting? An "Axis" camo? Posted Image

While talking about camos, how about a 2,000 MC "custom colour" that you can change yourself. You know... Cutting edge technology like in MS PAINT.

Dur. I know they have faction specific camos. They need more. PGI is a business and wants more money, here is a ready way to do so that will increase micro-transactions.

WW2 - This is the basis for pretty much all camo and frankly games like WoT doesn't do it justice. Altantic Western Approach Schemes, Dazzle Camoflage, British Armoured Division Desert, Zimmerit just to name a few
Sherman isn't enough and frankly the camo additions have not happened for some time.

The entire camo system is a shell and could be so much more. For example Steams Workshop would really open MWO up to Steam users and drive microtransactions throught the roof. (READ PGI: Lower camo/paint cost = microtransactions = CASH)

There is so much historical reference material that if PGI can't do it, open it up to the users and EVERYONE wins.

I like the idea of opening a steam workshop to let the community add their own content. this could also be done with cockpit accessories too perhaps. Games like Planetside 2 allow the same thing, although i think they need to work on the camo quality control a bit in PS2... some of them make me want to spoon my eyes out with a fork.

perhaps PGI could have like a community event where people can submit their designs and PGI picks the highest voted?

More patterns = better.
Though i need only one more - torso primary, hands and legs secondary colors - to paint mechs as Royal Guards or Skye Rangers.

As for prices - one shot camo is pretty cheap. Instead, i would suggest to make reusable camos for all mechs (not just one chassis. Or for all IS mechs, and for all Clans), but with increased prices.

Agreed. Tina? Is it at all possible to push for this? We want to do it and you're guaranteed to get a lot of resident player artist participation.

A community event like this would be a good way to test the waters for more player community contributions.

Yes, if they'd make it that accessible to all mechs, not just one chassis then keep the pricing. But if they want to keep that model, lower the price and open it up to community via Steam workshop.

The way I see it is that since every pattern needs to be applicable to every mech = much work, time and effort , this will probly not be the way they will go, instead I think the future we are going in is that you will select a base pattern from those we have now and apply the at that point available decals to recreate the paint scheme you want.

As per the video , the decals would be able to be scaled and rotated, and painted ( hopefully with at least 2 color channels ) and Russ said there would be a whole lot of them to use ( didn't mention the price though... ), so if the number of them on a single mech is not limited to a low number you could recreate much. ex, if you want a checkerboard pattern somewhere that the scheme doesn't have it you could just apply a number of small squares in a desired order ( again if the allowed number of them per mech is not low ) and so on.

@Nik - Perhaps, but in the past we've been able to sway PGI, and its in PGI's double interest to 1.) Make money, 2.) Boost Steam users joining MWO. A lot of Steam users like games which allow Steam Workshop.

MWO has a really fanatical fan base that is simply dying to contribute work, but is pretty jaded because of the lack of involvement allowed. Combine the two : Interest: Ability to contribute = Win for PGI.

As for the decals - I can't wait to see how much THOSE will cost...
