On the download site it states the new portal requires Windows 7 Minimum. Since I am still using a Vista PC does this mean I will no longer be able to play MWO once it kicks in? If this is the case the cost effectivity of getting an entire new O.S. and sundry bits does not balance vs continueing to play the game.

Try Steam. It works alot better than even the old launcher. And you don't need 45 gigs free just to install the game. It allocates precisely what you need, so PGI's archaic installer doesn't eat more of your hard drive than Steam needs to by comparison.

the steam install takes up more space for updates, and gets annoying on a space limited SSD ... I don't really see a requirement for windows7 ... on a technical level, its not far below 7 .... if your pc runs vista, it will probably run 7,8 or 10 better ... its not completely impossible for you to lose some driver support, especially touch inputs on laptops ...
