As a player with 200+ mechs I find myself in the curious position that I'm not able to find the motivation to skill up every single mech once again.

How would you propose making it easier for the old and weary veterans to get their familiar trusty mechs the way they were?

Me neither.
Probably because lots of my IS mechs were nerfed into the ground by losing quirks, agility or both.

Therefore I only skilled the mechs I wanted to actually use. The rest just waits for better times.

- Well, some IS mech become better, many stay as they was and a little become worse... but still you can compensate that by proper skill build. All trees pretty flexible.

For those who want fast skill old mech - my advice:
1. Open mech. Make proper build in one tree of skills.
2. Accept changes.
3. Open another mech skill - for first seconds you see previous skills and same skill tree.
4. Place all skill in same pattern.
5. Do that again with all mech which have same tonnage, build, model.

But yeah... if mech have enough skill points possibility to "copy existing skill build" from one mech to another would be cool.

Also, some IS mech no need anymore "working gimmick builds" which force use only one type of weapon because all other was bad or they need another modules. Now you can make all mech different, use strong sides of all models and make builds better with enchant of skill.
You'll wonder how different feel different mech models when you place right skill for right build and correct\optimal loadouts.

I'm waiting for the light fusion engine to come out before I start skilling out my IS mechs, but the IS mechs i did open up is my Jager DD & A , catapult A, stalkers. i have at least 40 more or so IS mechs. Big game changer for the IS with some of the new technology getting released in a couple months or so and you can bet it will be expensive but the same survival-ability lighter than std engine, start saving for it because its probably going to be 6-8 mill a pop for the new engine for an additional 2-8 tons freed.

PGI cares not about you needing to reskill out those trusty mechs. If they did they would have been more careful with the implementation of this new patch.

Skill them up as you want to play them. It only takes a few minutes once you get used to the ST. Looking at 200+ Mechs to Master would be daunting. Looking at doing them one at a time as you get in the mood to play them is not a whole lot worse that hunting down the appropriate modules that you want to switch over to them.

The best thing for you is to take your time. Play your favorite mechs without skills. See what aspects give you a hard time and then go into the skill tree and find nodes which address that. Read a little from other players about their recommendations.

The skill tree benefits can be quite confusing sometimes, so just try to stay informed about what really helps the most.

For ex. most people agree that weapon heat nodes in the firepower tree work better than cool run and heat containment.

But again, take your time and play your mechs without skills. Its totally doable and will give you an important feel of what you need to skill-up.

I only have 80 or so mechs but of those I only play maybe 20 or 30 in my fav list. Skilling them as I play has helped me learn what I do and don't like. You can only play one mech at a time so just skill up one mech at a time :)

I can only agree - but its for us who has less mechs - for the guys who has 200+ its a real headache - kind of disappointment . I understand those guys - but can only suggest them to be more polite and try it - I have 30 mechs - but for now after 2 weeks I playd only 3 mechs b coz I need get used to new play style - and I can say it was the same as before but - before patch all you need to is EXP the mech and open the skills now you need more - you need figure out the tree - that's not problem with less mechs and real crazy for 200+
