VIP mode is how it plays out atm in 70% of the games just frustrating.
The path the VIP decides to go is completely random, way too often end up by him walking
straight into the enemy team getting killed without a chance to do anything for his defenders.
And no, it shoudnt be the task of the defending team to yolo in infront of the vip into the
stupidest situations just to have a small chance for victory.
POSSIBLE FIX:
make the VIP controlled by a player picked randomly. For sure the player plays with the
mech he chose to play that round. You coud make only heavys/assaults suitable for VIP
role.Maybie there is a chance that some douchbag gets in charge and mess things up,
but atm the chance that the VIP screws things up is way bigger.
The game mode woud play out much more intresting and satisfiying.By giving a noticable cbill reward to the VIP player for surviving the match woud give an incentive to fit into
the role.
TLDR: VIP needs superior AI (unlikely with what is possible) or instead be controlled by a random human player in his own assault/heavy mech

Make the mode like any other reasonable Payload type
Until able objective
Player proximity movement, not player controlled
Known path
We've just solved two big issues
One being the Very Important Potato rushing a Firing Line to the dismay of Bluefor
The other being the complete lack of information.
Make the VIP into a APC or some such, and on rails (metaphorically)
He is now unable to get stuck or self-team legged
It would make the mode less terrible, at any rate

Personally, the ONLY beef I have with escort is that the VIP is an Atlas..
When you have an Atlas, you expect it to shoot back, and move at it's full speed..
Now, imagine the VIP was a large clunky vehicle like the ones sitting by the gates at HPG? You know the huge square vehicles there? Possibly MFB's?

THAT ONE
THOSE should be the VIP.. that way, you, as a player, would KNOW that you have an undefended, slow-moving, turtle of a VIP to babysit.. and you would not expect much intelligence from it..
That way, escort would be much more realistic..
This way, it's like the VIP Atlas is piloted by a 10yo that only knows hot to make it go forward, left and right.

I wouldn't necessarily trust a player with being the VIP, and he'd probably require an armor buff akin to that of the VIP's. What would happen if your chosen VIP disconnects or happens to be AFK? Unfortunately they aren't all that uncommon.
