Hi, I have logged into the client after hearing about the skilltree changes and I am just confused.

I don't understand what GSP, HSP, HXP, etc are and what I'm supposed to do with them. Note that I am a long time player of the game so I have large amounts of XP on some mechs and I have lots of mastered mechs. Or I had lots of mastered mechs. Confused.

Can anyone explain in simple terms what I should do?

Mostly just click the "Add SP" button in the skilltree of the mech you want to try it out on.

Always spend HSP and HXP first, they are mech specific, whereas GSP can be used to skill mechs you have never played in.

Leveling a 'mech 101

1. 91 SP will allow you to "Master" a 'mech in the new system
2. HSP - Convert these first (NOTE: Duplicate chassis share the same pool)
3. HXP - Convert all of this (NOTE: Duplicate chassis share the same pool)
4. GSP - Global pool, use these to add SP to any 'mech without HSP and bypass the C-Bill and XP costs
5. GXP - Global pool, only useful once you're out of HSP and GSP to purchase Skill Points, or you want to spend C-Bills for SP

Thanks, that's helpful. What happens once I use the 91 HSP (converted to SP) to master my mech, and then I want to make changes to the skill tree loadout? Do I need another 91 SP from some source?

Also is ghost heat still in effect or has that been removed?

Have ALL mech quirks been removed now?

What is Mech XP actually used for now? I have 19753 HXP on a particular mech - when I convert that to XP, what is it used for?

It seems to me that this places all mechs on a more level playing field now, which makes me wonder how relatively weaker mechs (due to model inferiority, for example) are going to cope.

For each 'mech, you can buy each skill point node once. There are 237 total skill points nodes. I would not recommend you bother buying them all. I'll link a good post with guides to limit any wasted SP.

If you remove a skill point node, you can re-purchase it later for 400 XP (1 SP normally costs 45,000 C-Bills + 800 XP).

Ghost Heat is unchanged.

A lot of weapon quirks have been removed or reduced.

You can use 'mech XP to purchase SP, or to re-equip a previously purchased skill node. I recommend you use HSP and GSP first.

This, along with the engine decoupling, has given the game a bit of a shake-up.

Collection of Skill Tree guides, hints and tips

[Edit] Changed skill point to skill node, where required [/Edit]

Thanks

Any spreadsheet which details the quirk changes?

So changing nodes costs 400XP per node?

This just seems odd that it costs so much to make changes.

Yes, re-purchasing a node costs 400 XP. Thankfully, no C-Bill cost.

Then the new system is working as intended, to suck CBills and XP out of veterans' mech stables.

Do you want to buy a Mechpack some Premium Time?
