(bump) Kevin, any news? Do the forum software vendors have a time-table for completing this, and other, features?

I was just thinking of making a topic about this issue when I saw this thread.
I have checked the box that says keep me logged in, yet I still have to log in every time I come to the site.

Same issue as the rest, plus I get logged off if I'm idle for more than 0:15.

I am investigating a secure method of keeping the login info between browser sessions, however I will not implement anything that I don't feel secure enough. Your account credentials and security are always top priority.

This topic will be locked from now on, but check back in this forum for a sticky if/when the system get's implemented.

It's been a week. How's fixing it coming?

Ah, good. Glad it was posted, at least. I'm not complaining about it, I was just wondering if it was an issue or an aggressive cookie-wipe by my ISP. Thanks for the post, OP.

Is the search function on the forum not working or are people just lazy?

So I see there is a little check box that says "keep me logged in" and yet... every 5 minutes I have to log back into the forums... what is with that? Either stop booting me or get rid of the check box making me feel like I'm supposed to stay logged in.

It's been discussed here. Admins want to have a way to guarantee security before implementing the login lock, or whatever you want to call it,

Yeah, my understanding from Kyle, also, is that the company who built this portal system obviously didn't implement everything, yet. Now, if I missed something and they're talking about themselves as that company, then that's trouble, hehe.

yeah I was reading through that and they stated that checking the keep me logged in box extends the session time, But I check that damn thing every time and never leave the site and it boots me in about 10 minutes.:) hope thy get something figured out on that. I totally understand their issue, just wish in the meantime they would extend the session time a little longer, like say maybe a hour instead of 10 minutes would be nice

Or maybe until my session is closed?? That would be nice... if I could open the forums, and start reading a post, and not get logged out...

To the devs, I did some research on various IP.Board tech support forums regarding the "bug" that prevents us from staying logged in despite the fact we check the "keep me logged in" box, and I found this:

http://invisionmoddi...stay-logged-in/

I don't know which version of IP.Boards you're using, but it may very well be a fix for you.

Anyhow, check it out...

I really hope this is fixed soon, as having to re-enter my password every time I open the forums on the same computer gets old really fast!

From the functionality, style, and features of these forums I can say that they are running the IP.Board 3.2.X version. I installed the same version on the House Liao Website with NO issues of the "keeping me logged in" bug.

Even installed a Shoutbox and web Chat program oh their website.

Maybe you could post your board settings in terms of cookie and security in case there is something that will raise a flag. Just replace sensitive data with placeholders if needed...

It's neither of these issues. We do not use IP Boards login / User features at all as your information security is top priority. Storing credentials in cookies is not secure enough; I'm merging this topic with the other and locking it down.

So why do we have these problems with logging in on the site?

For example, my browsers will not remember login info for "mwomercs.com" when a login box appears, but they remember it for "mwomercs.com/login" just fine. Worse, this site never remembers me.

So to log in when visting (I bookmarked http://mwomercs.com/...ctivity&mid=213), I have to click login, then enter garbage to get my login to fail which bounces me to the mwomercs.com/login page, then let my browser enter it automatically, then login, then go back to my original bookmark. This is silly.

Why does mwomercs.com have problems with this process where just about any other content management system and forums on the web doesn't have login problems?

Thanks.

"known issue" but yeah, it's kind of ridiculous that this isn't worked out yet. I haven't seen this poorly behaved login credentials system in years.

I don't mean the one you have, I mean one that actually keeps you logged in.
