The need for AI Mechs is really useful when Factions warfare or quickplay populations are low.
It can also help if I player drops and disconnects for a set amount of time. For example if the player drops and disconnects 2 times in a row, the 2nd disconnect an AI could take over.
The uses of this could be in a lot of ways. Once AI is done for mechs PGI could make AI consumables for players to buy, like planes, trains and automobiles.. no wait I mean tanks, helicopters, jets and power armor from battletech,..
It can help people when waiting for a match when one side of the population (IS or Clan) is low. Like not waiting 20 mins for a matchin FW on some nights.

Creating an Ai that can replace a player in QP let alone FW would be a tremendouse task, even for big companies.
Most of the Ai you find in todays shooters are overwhelmed with most simple tasks of running not into the enemy head on, blocking themselfs or not beeing able to decide how to get around a small stone on the ground.
I don't want to think about giveing the Ai the wide range of weapons that MWO offers at the same time.
So while its a good idea to have at least a basic Ai that would move disconnected people out of the line of fire or take over AFKlers so they run towards the enemy to finaly end the match, haveing a competend Ai that can actualy fight alonge players is a complete different thing.
Also when I look at the current turret Ai with its pinpoint accuracy PGI has even to figure out how to make the Ai inferrior to humans in regards to targeting !
