Suggestion is as follows: Keep the tonnage limits to both IS and clan dropdecks but allow to bring 2 or 3 mechs instead of 4.
Thoughts?

It doubt its that easy to predict such dynamic since it won't be a necessity to bring less mechs. People who aren't good in lights won't be forced to bring a light in order to compensate brining their favorite assault, they will simply have less mechs. Same time peeps who are happy with their current dropdecks will still bring four mechs. Thus the "waves" dynamic (which isn't necesserily good or bad) would be altered due to people having different amount of mechs and the question of when and with what to reinforce won't be as obvious.
I'm not really aiming at improving anything (yet) with this suggestion except for not forcing people to do something they don't really want for no obvious reason ... such as bring no less than four mechs, which in turn imposes severe limitations on what mechs you actually do take into your dropdeck.

I wasn't replying to your silly idea of some people bringing less mechs for more tonnage which is absolutely broken before it even drops.
I was responding to the person above.

Interesting. Obviously more well thought but not necesserily mutually exclusive. The min and max possible tonnages are the main balancing issue but if done right I quite like yours. Option.2 I mean ...

I can't take anyone seriously that's been unable to beat us with a 12man either.
