I have this thing where, a mech has to earn its stripes, literally.
I will not paint it till I'm satisfied it is at least performing average or better.

If its doing really well, it earns a Oneshot skin.

I always thought that was strange of me to impose my own "achievements" for a chassis.

When I want certain mech to perform exceptionally well, especially a mech with limited range of operation such as brawler, or pure LRM boat, I put Lucky Cat cockpit item on it.

Each of my mechs have to earn their upgrades... yes that means when I get a SHS mech, it has to run with SHS until it can afford to upgrade to DHS....

I like to loosen up before a match with a few 360* rotations and arm wiggles after drop - and of course my GI cheerleader.

I test the heat of my weapon groups when I drop, because it annoys so many people Posted Image

A Light 'mech has to have the Lucky Charm hanging item equipped, unless it's a Clan 'mech - they don't need luck!

I have a similar ritual.
I will run a mech in stock loadout until I score a Kill or KMDD in it, then I am allowed to change the loadout.
Once the mech unlock all Basic Skill (old skill system), it can now spot a camo.
It will get earn a custom name if it perform very well or to my liking.

When I find myself performing too well in a mech, I paint it vivid yellow and blaze orange in order to get more attention from the entemy and normalize my output.

I always open and shut the weapon bay doors twice at the start of a match. Maybe that is one of my many OCDs.

Back when I cared about leveling mechs, I often played unskilled until I had enough XP to master the mech, even though I couldn't master it unti I got through the third variant. That act of just clicking through all three mechs to full mastery at once was always very satisfying.

I sacrifice pigs, goats and occasionally anime gifs to the Gods of Battletech for favor on the battlefield.

I ritualistically shoot my teammates in the back or shoot their arms off when they walk in front of me.

I hit override before the mech leaves the dropship, and keep it on the whole match. The only mechs I don't override are my IV4 and my AC2 Cicada. Ya if it has claws open em.

I only do this when I play lights, but as soon as I drop I look up at the sky, shake my torso back and forth in a very twitchy manner and say in a loud voice "I'm out the box, motha f***as!".

I then proceed to behave in my normal and respectful manner.

I actually heavily do a variation of this now, such that I dont' waste $$$ refactoring node layouts. I'll drive it drive it drive it with a loadout i'm happy with, and every 10-15 nodes accumulated, i'll then skill based on "Man this thing turns and moves like a drunken hobo, or gdamn this thing runs hot ect ect ect..."

I've found some mechs I don't even find a need to complete the skills on as It works great how it is, and by skilling further I feell like it'll break something in my gameplay(ie used to slow(er) velocity, adding more kinda screws up your aim

At the beginning of the match i try to say hello to everyone to be nice and break the ice of comms. Then usually get used to the torso twist rate by rotating back and forth several times. Sometimes will test my heat of the weapons and my heat disaption rate.

During the loading screens i will clean or do some housework to optimize my time. Sometimes will work out or do a form of karate to warm up my muscles in the loading screens.

As far as mechs go before a get into a group will spend 20 minutes or so going over loadouts skills colors and such.

I actually do the same thing. I'll paint a new 'Mech with Smoke Jag green for try-harding camouflage purposes, but it gets no name and no fancy paint until I have decided I like its performance.

I like to call the match even though my mic isn't connected. And I would get banned pretty quickly if it was.
