I really have to disagree with you. While the mech will be okish at the Gauss + PPC meta, Other then that its going to mostly be an under achiever compared to the the KGC/ANNI. The only exception to this will be the 9S, That's the only truly good mech in the bundle. With only 1 out of 5 variants worth keeping I would have said you should pass on this bundle.

Are you trolling?

For starters the KC is a knuckle dragger and almost all of the NSR's weapons are in line with the cockpit. The Anni has issues with that as well as its periscope cockpit is way above it's weapons which are also relatively low mounted. Let's not forget the Anni has an engine cap of 300, that restricts it to DWolf speed. The 9FC comes with a 380xl which means it could do a 400 or any other engine. With tweek, that 400 will propel the NSR to 73kph, same as a Wubshee.

So 1 out of 5 worth keeping? That's just not being real but of course everyone can have their opinions.

Just like the dude who claimed the Mad Cat MK II was absolute crap. Some people have opinions but no idea what they're talking about.

No Im not trolling you and I stand by what I said. Other then the Guass/PPC meta the Nightstar will be an under achiever.

Show me some Nightstar builds that will be good other then dual Gauss + 1-2 hppc/ppc's. Other then the 9S the Nightstars are really gimped by only having 8 crit slots in the arms to work with.
The KGC's ballistic are low mounted but get 10 crit slots to work with. Its torso weapons are at the same level as the Nightstars but you get the option of 2-4 E and M weapon points.
The Anni is slow yes, but really if your going to be using its hard points to their best use, your not going to have the tonnage for a big engine. The FC can put in a 400, but what weapons can you use while doing so? 2 AC 10 and 5 ML?

But I am being real, The 9S is the only real "keeper" in the Nightstar pack. Its a shame really the Nightstar is one of my favorite TT mechs, But for MW:O its going to be an under performer because of the choices PGI made when designing the game. The Nightstar is hit hard by not being able to spreed weapon crits between two locations. Its why 9S has 2 Uac 20's instead of Uac 20 + LBX 20 like in TT. I know the Nightstars your Pet mech, so this might sting. But after I heard the reviewer say that the Nightstar was capable of builds it cant do I had to speak up .

PS Im sorry I got you and the reviewer confused, that was my mistake.

I did explian why I think the Nightstar will be an under achiever. Please give me a bit more credit then that I have no Idea about what I'm talking about.

Banshee 3S weeps in its corner, forever forgotten

Even the engine desync gimped it, despite it being the second weakest Banshee

It could use a bit of help, but I like to pilot that mech commonly enough.

Your obsession is unhealthy.

Actually no, at even numbered engine caps you can usually get an extra sink into it. 345 is just asinine as its juts shy of 350 and the extra sink in the engine.

Not that this particularly bothers me since im only driving the Cbill one, and the only builds that would actually use that large of an engine would be pure energy builds and none of them are particularly energy heavy.

Well aside from the 9S, the 9FC could do dual uac10 & lasers, the 9P has 4 ballistic so quad uac5 or some uac10/Rac5, lasers or with a std engine it can do dual hvy gauss. The WP is a missile boat, hopefully mrms are good. That's off the the top of my head, I have to get back to work.

Nightstar looks more like a Zentraedi officer pod than the Marauder.

Ok,

The FC with 2 UAC 10 and 5 ML is 31 + (5-6 ton for ammo) thats 37 tons with no heatsinks. your going to need to cut armor or ammo to mount a 375. Your going to end up running really hot.

The 9P with 4 UAC is 36 tons + ammo (6-7 tons), 2 UAC 10 and 2 RAC 5's is 46 tons before ammo so you wont be even close to the engine cap unless you XL. Both builds will be more effective using an ANNI with a light engine. As far as Heavy Gauss ya,, Thats 32 tons before ammo (6-8 tons) theres no way your getting anything bigger then a 325 engine. At that point I would rather use a Mauler or the Cyclops hero (more secondary weapon points)

and as for the hero, that that is the worst of the bunch followed close by the 10P

PS sorry you need to work on a sunday, that blows.

when you buy assault mechs an extra heat sink slot in the engine is paramount. many assaults are are make or break on their engine cap alone.

The Anni is not going to be better simply due to how low it's weapons are in relation to it's cockpit and it's still going to be substantially slower. As for the Mauler & Cyclops, they're lighter and the Clops is squishy and the Mauler isn't going to be better in close combat as it's torsos are easy to shoot off. At worst the Nightstar will be as good as a Mauler for all of these builds.

On twitter Russ said that whether the 345 moved to 350 was is in Chris's hands...

+1 for engine caps being multiples of 25

Also ITT: everybody forgetting that Light Gauss is coming around.

There are plenty of ballistics options that leave two empty slots in the arm after mounting. The boon here is that, unlike the Mauler and Banshee, I can place my bread and butter weapons in arms that move laterally. Not everything revolves around Gauss, Ultra 5s, and 20s.

IMHO, the NSR-10P is the only one at-risk of uselessness. PGI really ought to reconsider not adding Small Cockpits in the July patch, because head hardpoints on IS 'Mechs are excruciatingly limited.

Welp, that's because without some serious stats fiddling the LGauss will be a trap, not as bad a trap as HGauss, which is like ISsmall lasers but still along the lines of IS small pulse/machineguns.

How about this for the 10P,
X4 AC5
X1 LPL/PPC
X1 ERMlas
& ecm of course
Bigger Black widow with backup weapons & ecm

I thought about that, but twin ERLL would have been so much better.

Can also do 4x RAC/2, 2x Ultra/5 + 2x Ultra/2 or Rotary AC/2, or go full sniper using twin LGauss and twin AC/2, all with an ER LL or ER PPC.

Maybe. Depends on what PGI does with its damage and/or cooldown, but the range on it will be fantastic regardless and I suspect it will have some uses, just as isSPL have a few.

Yeah or just x2 gauss & x1 hvy ppc. Could be extra good firing from ecm cover.
