Was just perusing some of the solo vs unit threads, and it gets to me the real problem is lack of communication.
Solos will always get stomped in a team game because of lack of leadership and communication. Possibly some serious dropship and skill issues as well.
What if there was some additional orders being barked by the AI voice guy.
Like once in a while during matches when you hear 'the enemy is at 75 percent, keep up the pressure' or what not.
If during a FW match there were notes and reminders
'The enemy has opened gate beta at grid A7.'
'The enemy is shooting at turrets at gate lapha at grid b9'.
'The enemy has four mechs inside the base at grid c7'.
'Generator One is being attacked and is at 50% strength'
Stuff like this.
No way to call for focus fire on a mech which is probably the thing that would still separate real drop commanders from any kind of AI but I'll take what I can get.

Ai Dropship Commander?

Part of the problem is whether people actually bother to follow what the drop commander tells them.
That's what lets us to the current predicament.
Also, having someone who is not shooting/playing the drop is not usually beneficial.... unless you design lots of mechanisms for the commander role like in Natural Selection.

I think the DC's job is not to doe out information but rather direct and prioritize the teams efforts, so that team members are on the same page
Too much info could cause overload and much of the info is already available from sensors such as radar
Not knocking your idea, but my view is that it would be of limited use because communication and Drop calling is only half the story. Listening and using/doing what is communicated is the other half of the story and is where many battles are lost.
Get to da CHOPPA!!!!!!

Even if you do, you run the risk of subjecting pilots to information overload. The HUD indicators and map indicators do a job already of informing pilots of enemy activity.
It's not the lack of communication-it's the complacency of pilots and lack of willingness to improve that's the issue, really, I think...

Just had a mad idea!
Just add " Fire on Alpha" to the command wheel
The designation of course would change depending on which mech the cross hair is pointing at.

PGI added a LFG system, they added in-game VOIP and they added a order wheel. People also have the ability to take up command and dish out orders by lance. If players choose to ignore all these tools infront of them, I don't see what some random voice giving random information is going to change about that other than annoy most other players.
