He doesn't. Huntsman stock has a turn rate of 55, Marauder has a turn rate of 50.42. They are close enough though that skill would probably be the deciding factor.
Also in case you didn't know, your turn radius now smaller when your at half throttle or less so if you were turning full bore and he was turning at half throttle, he is absolutely going to beat you.
Another thing that works is doing a reverse turn where your backing and turning at the same time. It will also make you pivot faster or at least it seems that way to me.
However, these are skill based, not math based so I rest on my first statement. He was just the better pilot.

A reverse turn at 100% throttle is faster than a forwards turn at 100% throttle simply because you're moving slower.
If someone is circling you, doing a reverse turn instead of a forwards turn extends the distance they have to travel to circle you which buys you more time to shoot them, making it seem like you turn even faster still (generally, it'll cause them to circle closer behind you, which will reduce their time to get at your rear and reduce the time it takes you to switch turning directions and get your guns on them again.
Ultimately, the Marauder pilot was just a better pilot.
OP: Note how the mech's turn rates are shown with a graph. The speed at which you turn is directly related to your ground speed as it relates to your mech's max forward speed. Slow down, turn faster. There's a huge difference between ~75% speed and 100% speed, and the gains slow after that. Just look at the graph.

Isn't it obvious, instead of using old mechs that work better, clans made new mechs that perform worse... because....ummm...

Check yourself! False
Read the patch notes: engine desync!
You are not correct and engine only increases top speed! Nothing else!
Wow!
Engine desyncing just stopped speed from specifying turn rate, but speed still AFFECTS turn rate.

Didnt know they changed it. So sorri. So... wow... two different mechs that perform differently... what a shocker.

In any case, the Huntsman is still objectively more agile than a Marauder.
