Well I think they hurt when you step on them. But then again I am not a 50 ton mech man made of steel... Or am I... Ow, nope just pinched myself, all fleshy still.. Posted Image

But seriously, I wouldn't mind some new weapon types like this, mines would make more sense.

This reminds me of a Megamek (tabletop simulator) match I played. I spent all my battle value (about 7000) on a Direwolf Prime with a crazy good pilot. It was an absolute monster to fight, was hitting targets (like aircraft) at silly ranges that would usually be immune to fire due to needing impossible dice rolls to hit. Light mech behind? Flip arms, pew, dead :D

Unfortunately the same match my opponent decided to bring a mine layer, and I pretty much lost it to mines alone :(

Things we get up to while waiting for the spinning circle.

Your caltrops are called THUNDER lrm ammo...

oops, didn't see El Bandito's post.

Add SWARM ammo as well and LRM would face a brand new hate level

TBH investing all your BV into one mech generally is a terrible idea regardless of what your opponent brings. Since only one "stray" Gauss or PPC or AC20 can instagib you via headshot regardless of how awesomely amazing your mech and its pilot are.

On the subject: ... bad idea IMO. Mines, traps and other similar stuff would only make matches less dynamic. As if we don't have plenty of stupid camping as is.

I think they work well to direct mechs away from entrances to the base on Incursion, and since they are made from concrete, and big as houses, they are difficult to remove...

Oh, wait, you meant as a consumable?

Then no..

Caltrops for mechs would be mines wouldnt they? Pressure mines with weight detonators are already part of MW.

I freaking wish. But beyond PGI's ability to code. They can't even get solid shot for LBX.

I would like to see mines. Thunder LRM's would be awesome, but I'd be happy with a consumable deployable minefield too. Randomly scatter mines around your mech, have them arm after a certain amount of time. Hell, you could treat it largely like an arty strike.

As long as it can't be fired using lock-on mechanics, sure.

Not if you also add smoke/chaff shells that lasted for 30 seconds or much more. Posted Image

And after that, Inferno SRMs. I want to load up on them and go hunt Ebon Jaguars all day long.

I always preferred my four-sided dice translucent, with a nifty sheen.
