Bad Dream

I'm I brawler and this kind of map would mean death perhaps without firing a single weapon.
If it were a good dream it would have been a new City map of down town Manhattan.

Polar is a wide open map, yet... they made it so brawlers could get close by putting in little valleys. A desert would have sand dunes. PGI is too afraid of making a completely flat map. Plus that would be boring. Even a city map will have roadways where you could get sniped from long range. You will never truly escape your bad dream...
The real bad dream is already a reality. Its called MWO.

I honestly have fun with both. It's just the other guys tend to overheat more so I get less flak on my heat-efficient missile lobbers.
Would do a flattish desert map. Bonus: If it has day and night modes, the temps will be considerably different.

Actually I could go for a desert map like the south west USA.
Basically a bigger canyon network.

From what I have gathered by averaging a few sources, cooling in a vacuum is about half as efficient as cooling in the presence of a convecting atmosphere, so although the sun/shade temperature duality will confer a very interesting variable, the magnidute of difference won't be as drastic as the actual temperature Delta. Since cooling is overall halved, the temp difference will be experienced only half as strongly as if there was air. PGI would have to make cooling rates different for sun and shade, and than choose a different "temperature" for the map to reflect the non-normal cooling rates.
To use Mercury as an example, we can see temperatures ranging from 93-700 Kelvins for the day and night sides, but since there is no atmosphere, the Mechs would cool too quickly if PGI simply coded the temperatures as such in the map settings. They would have to reduce cooling rates by half, so they have to program whatever temperature fits their algorithm to spit out a cooling rate that's half of what the rate would be if those actual temperatures were used .

space port in the center with big maintenance hangers surrounding the big union class drop ships
the center space port would be surrounded by water that was serviced by an over land wide wide bridge
and a underground wide wide railway (yes the return of the cave/tunnel) the idea is to have wider area that people wont
hate to go into but wide area with rail cars for cover (at least 10 mechs wide)
city side across the water from the space port

... Or a Widowmaker.
(I could do a panther, though... They are just another form of Cougar)
