I'm trying to get into an Invasion match. I normally don't do Faction Warfare, just quickplay. And I cannot make heads or tails of the Faction Warfare interface.
Unless I'm blatantly missing something, there's just no instruction or clear "Follow these steps to queue up for battle" within the game, and no obvious instructions in the forums either. Frustrating.

Right now you don't have a facton, which means you'll only join by clicking the little 'Call to Arms' that pops up. As a freelancer, you'll only get invites if one group is already queued up and the game is forming a team to oppose. It'll be the little boxes in the lower right that pop up.
You could also make your own unit, take a mercenary contract, an queue up that-a-way, but dropping solo can take a bit to find a match sometimes.
Lastly, you could grab teamspeak, go find all of the various teamspeak servers, find a group, ask if they've room, and get invited to drop with folk. Currently the IS gets matches faster'n the Clans do.

FP or faction play used to be called CW or Community Warfare so that can be a problem with searching for info
all these are old and CW/FP has changed several times look for a June 2016 or later
this is the newest one I can find on short notice
edit 2
don't take a loyalist contract because if you do and later want to break your contract you will loose
25% of the loyalty points you have built up
I did that a year ago and I am stuck
loyalty points are hard to get these days, I think I have gotten like 3 ranks in a year maybe (sort of stopped playing that much)

If being in a Faction is necessary, they shouldn't give you the option of being a Freelancer and make it the default choice when you start. I don't run with a unit, so it seemed like the most logical choice. Thanks for giving the least helpful answer.
