ok PGI? How about this, why dont you provide us with map making tools so we can make maps? Crazy? Umm not in my view as I have made maps before for Flight sim called IL2. We had LOADS of fun making them and if the tools are similar to what we used, should work really great.

I admit, I do not know what tools PGI used to create these maps, but if they could be provided for us to use, why not help them?

Just asking! Posted Image

Crowdfunding has worked out so well for PGI in the past.

That was a bit of a different situation ;)

But yes lots of games have put out tools to allow players to mod games and it does work good. PGI doesn't want this because they want full control they said.

I've said this before, but they should do what Star Citizen did with "The Next Great Star Ship," have a competition for map makers, and the winner would get reworked by PGI to make it how they want it.

Maps cost hundreds of thousands per Russ. I don't see the kick starter pulling in this much. I don't think k 1 map is worth adding anymore. They need to add assets to the maps we have now.

The kickstarter wouldn't have to supply the whole funding for a map. The game still benefits from new maps, and in the end that will keep money coming in for PGI. The crowd funding would be a little like what they did for the Urban Mech. A way to judge the desire of the playerbase.

To elaborate on my original post, I would like any crowdfunding that did take place to be for a set of maps, not just one. A map pack of sorts.

I run on the lowest graphics settings and can pretty clearly see that they put a lot of effort into the visual designs of maps, probably too much, it looks good, but for example walk around and count the amount of unnecessary objects cluttering the place up, from the trees at spawn locations that fall over when shot or run into, to the mech corpses that you barely notice you are climbing over in the desert, to cars and power/radio poles.

Making new maps includes making them comparable in detail and effort to the others or they will feel very out of place, which is a lot of effort. Of course they should (and might be) working on maps right now that we aren't aware of, but I agree with others who have suggested they would profit more from adding random potential start locations for groups on maps within the parameters of each game mode, at least on the bigger maps, like polar highlands, frozen city, tourmaline etc. These new potential spawn locations would have to be balanced somewhat, but it would make the current maps more dynamic, and we would get to see them from different angles, and likely have many differing battlefields within one map.

Or they could just stop making everything else cause it has been a total $hitshow for the past year.... InfoWar, Energy Draw, Skill Maze, Escort, Incursion, CW 3/4/4.1 like seriously JUST STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!! Keep making mechpaks and make us new maps, that is the sole capability that PGI has shown to be capable of and I would settle for them to stop making the game worse and at least give us more maps. I would start spending money again if they would do just that... I have suggested starting a New Map fund for months now.

To a degree your right on. While I think overall that the skill tree has been a positive move, most of the other changes PGI has put in place have not been and I for one wish they would just stop changing things. I am more than a little tired of having my favorite mechs nerfed into the ground or find my favorite builds not working any more.

Now don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to the new tech but what needs to happen is that they need to get the new tech into the game, spend a month or so getting it balanced and then just stop messing with things. Then instead of focusing on messing with things, focus on new maps.

Its a great idea, but most of our existing maps are so poorly designed, even if I had money I wouldn't trust PGI to make good maps with it.

Maybe a combination of ideas. PGI hosts a competition for community members, and the community votes on which ones to kickstart, after PGI has vetted them. PGI would then have the ability to make alterations to the winning maps, allowing them to keep creative control.

I really liked how Star Citizen did their competition. The competitors showed their work as it progressed, allowing the judges to critique and give advice. In this situation the community could also give suggestions, allowing you, and others to voice their opinion.

We need at least big, 100-90% city maps (some kind of known tight, brawly city from lore, also MW4 had some nice city maps), some cave maps ( Glacial Caves ) with tunnels and such aka MW3 and big open desert maps (kinda the opposite of Polar Highlands) Desert Sowlands

Good good PGI let a few talented players here design a few.
Is it really that difficult?
