Does it have to be 345? Can it be 350 so we can get that extra DHS in the engine?

It isn't like its going to be going very fast with a 350 at 95 tons anyway.

I just like round numbers and maximizing my available space.

One of them doesn't have a cap at all (400) and the Mad MKII is 400 also and 90 tons.

I want to get the Nightstar but that irked me, anyone else feel like a nice rounded 350 would be better?

I'll give the same answer as I did here; https://mwomercs.com...star-ocd-issue/

NO!

Edit; Odd, I don't see my post there. Somehow it got removed... odd. Still, short answer is no.

Didn't see that thread.

If the answer is NO! then what is the reason?

Nightstar aside, my 310 max engine Stalkers would like to at least get up to 325, cause at this rate, LFE will be useless on it.

Presumably for balance.

The Nightstar is going to be a very solid mech, and the step from 345>350 is a big step due to that extra DHS.

It's kind of good that PGI isn't just power-creeping the hell out of it, as it'd be easy enough to do.

Except the fact that one of them has a 400 engine cap.

That's a big maybe. Current IS tech is not that good even on a decently mounted mech (with the exception of LPL), and new techs are mostly sidegrade, though they might offer some surprises.

Useless? I don't think so.

They're probably ok with that because that variant comes with a 380xl stock. Athorn was talking about consistency but the thing is the Annihilator got bumped up from 240, the Bounty Hunter & Urbanmech were all given increased engine caps.

I don't think an extra dhs slot will make a huge difference because with engine desync & the tonnage a lfe350 won't leave much weight for weapons & I'm not confident about putting an xl in except on the 9FC.

Correction--almost useless. 300 rating is just so slow. And the fact that the build has no space left to even take advantage of any leg armor shaving confirms it.

Oh yeah, I forgot you'll have to shave some armor from legs to get .5 ton.

It's photoshop. I built it using remlab website. You can't cherry pick the engine but stock STD255 weight as much as LFE300.

0.5 ton is not impressive though. I mean I see its use, but so far LFE seems very limited on low engine mech such as the Stalker.

Stalker is not an XL friendly mech so LFE means more tonnage to spare without survivability loss.

Yeah my Misery may benefit from this few extra tons of gauss ammo or some extra sinks...or both.

We'll see, especially once new tech opens up more options. I still stand by my conviction that speed is life. Slow Assaults are easy pickings nowadays.

Yeah, I'm with you on IS tech, but fixing faction balance requires work on tech. Just releasing more powerful IS mechs is a profoundly bad way to deal with faction balance.

And god, fix that LPL crap. It's so tedious to just stuff all one's IS mechs with LPL's. Christ almighty, that's boring.

What weapon do you want IS players to use? Missiles that weight twice as much compared to clan ones? Gauss which is 3 tons heavier? Large lasers which are inferior to cLPL? Oh wait, I know - small lasers!
