Hi guys!

As mentioned in the last Roadmap for June/july, the 8vs8 ranked Mode should come out next week on the 20th of June. I looked around and didnt find any further details about it.... Can anybody help me out with some details or are there non yet? Like max allowed tonnage/class 2/2/2/2??

Also:

Imo this is a pretty big thing for MWO, cause thats exactly what me and my mates want and need: A competetive Qeue without having to schedule and organize matches and dates.
What do others think about it? Who is considering to form a team?

Sure. It doesnt make sense otherwise. Soloranking is pointless. It is a teamgame. Makes sense for premades only. So gather some friends and form a team!

What? Lots of other team games have ranked matches with "random" players playing together.

Yeah, but imo that doesnt tell you much about the player. Some light Pilot who is just hiding behind some rocks in the background while peeking under ECM with its ER large laser might have done 500 dmg in a match and also get 1 or 2 kills. But the team loses probably anyway, because he didnt fill his proper Role as a scout or to protect the heavies / assaults against other lights whatsoever... but the light pilot would go up in the ranking? Therefore a pilot of an Atlas who is leading a Charge (and just by that) gives other mates the courage to follow, which might lead to a win, did probably just 200 damage but he tanked as hell.. you wouldnt see that in the ranking either... so a Ranked Soloqeue is pointless imo. Also there is already a Pilot Ranking in MWO (just dont know if it is just about FP-Matches or in general...)

I expect the teams in each region will arrange days and times where many teams try to get matches in the new bucket for 2 hours or thereabouts. Friday and Saturday nights seem most likely to me.

As far as I'm aware, we won't know anything other than 8v8 and likely 2/2/2/2 until we get the patch notes.

I'm predicting that it'd be a heavy and assault deathball meta.

Well, they could always expand on their LFG system. Would be easy, just add some kind of text window so you can tell people *what* type of group you are forming.

make it a bit more visible in the front end and you have your groups. But without that I expect 8v8 to be DoA with no one playing because no one waits 30minutes.

We've heard the same right before the separation of a group / solo queues in CW. Funny thing tho, it was the soloists who couldn't find a match forever. Groups kept playing just fine.

Possibly. I'm hoping they have some sort of progressive payout structure, so every month or so the top 20 something teams get rewards.

It's going to be ranked so they say but I don't see many people playing this after few weeks so the ranking system I'm guessing will not work.

This will get flooded by groups for about 4 weeks then become a wasteland used by comp teams only.

Which is fine except FW will become more of a wasteland, without events.

8v8 ranked, feels like P.G.I surrendering to the e-sport minority, because it feels it's going to lose casuals in numbers this year, or why wait so long to produce it.

Still we can all look forward to the time jump and the perfect balance the game will be from day one, with it's faultless patch

Because they made it so that every soloist who had created a one man unit just to have a tag and get mercenary rewards had to play in the Group queue. The solo queue had no chance to succeed it was set up to fail. After a week PGI was then able to say. " We tried it but it did not work!" It was their self fulfilling prophecy. The seal clubbers rejoiced! CW/FW/FP continued its downward trend.

Hopefully the 8v8 Competitive Queue will be handled better. It can be the real answer to organized team play in MWO. I would like to see it followed up with 1v1 and 2v2 rankings for the solos and friends who want to play competitive together but do not have the free time to join a large competitive team.

The system they're making is for the WC. That's why it's 8v8.

Russ did say the system can be scaled meaning they could use this for any size. They do have something new coming out soon . I'm still hoping for 1v1.

That kind of works out. As it will only be free to use for few months. After this only the top rated teams will be fighting it out anyway.
