its not much but a single Free Ton can matter allot for a light,
not having the right 100XL stops my UM from taking its AC20(2.5Ammo) & SL,
(as the 100XL actually weighs 0.5Tons in game, which is 1Ton too heavy)

Thoughts, Comments, Concerns?
Thanks,

If the math is off it should be fixed, considering the 60 Fusion for the UrbanMech already uses negative tonnage space magic to get it working properly.

Uh... a 20 ton mech with a 100 rated engine moves 81kph. A 25 tonner goes 64kph.

Unless you fear the urbanlocust, I don't see the point of this thread. It's not like they'd be hard to CT.

EDIT: oooh, you're upset because the urbansnowflake can't do a build. Yeah, still not a concern, if you're taking a 54kph light- even one quirked to be a micro-medium's armor- you're hurting the team.

and a 30Ton mech(such as an UM(Urbie) moves 54kph, yes yes,
its about 7more shots with a AC20(14 to 21shots) thats pretty big as its 50% more Ammo,
otherwise you would have to take a 60STD to get that tonnage and move 32kph, which is DWF slow,

meh ive played a AC20 urbie with 4 tons of ammo (a lot of stripping, XL145), really you'd be better off asking PGI to finally normalize the ammo counts at 200 dmg base for all, since the primary issue is that with 140 (from 100) per ton the ac20 got 33% ammo nerfed by double armoring.

Sounds like you'll get to upgrade from a suicide box to one that survives ST destruction without reworking your build at all. Celebrate!

technically yes thats exactly what it does, but the 100XL does make you go 22kph faster, i guess that matters abit, ;)

How's swapping from a 100 to a 100 give you 22 more KPH?

1) Who uses a 100 rated engine?
2) Engines, as with most Battletech equipment, are meant to be placed in half-ton increments.

engines outside of the usual 170-375 range are really niche and dont serve as many mechs as the others. engines over 375 do find use though in a lot of clan battlemechs, and any is assaults with engine caps that high. so i have at least one of every std and isxl over 170. below that mark there are a lot of obsolete engines, like the xl100, 125, and 145 tend to obsolete everything around them, and almost every other std is obsoleted by the next weight class. there just is not a lot of light mechs that require those engines. i dont have as many clan xls because frankly there arent that many clan battlemechs. i suppose it would be nice to give me an extra half ton on my urbies. i use the std100 because it really doesnt cost that much and i can do all upgrades. light ferro might push me to the lfe though.
