Only really notice it with Night Gyrs. Other's do it, but no one cares, as it is not very effective unless you have relatively high PPFLD, and really only the Night Gyr has the right combo of JJ, high mounts and the joys of dual Gauss and ERPPC.

I'm running a Griffin with 3 srm6. Doesn't shortrange weaponry count ?

2 cERPPC HBK IIC still works just fine.

It has always been interesting to me how controversial this tactic is considered. The truth is some mechs were specifically designed with this tactic in mind. For example, the Summoner. Why devote 5 tons to JJs if they are not going to give the mech some kind of tactical advantage.

That being said, the same strategy works against Poptarts as LRM mechs. Once you close on them that specific advantage goes away. Allowing them to continue to pepper you from range is the same mistake as running away from an LRM boat rather than closing on it.

So, it is fine, no one should have an issue with it any more than any other specific strength that plays to a particular mech design. Play it and learn how to play against it.

Like I said, others do it but I only really notice it on Night Gyrs. If you are "poptarting" at effective SRM range then you are likely going to have your target walking around to shoot you from behind whatever cover you are "poptarting" from after a single volley. You see Night Gyrs getting away with it for entire matches sometimes because they are doing it from 900M or more while the rest of their team slows/prevents you from engaging.

I like to PopLurm with a Night Gyr. Head-mounted TAG, 90 Tubes, much ammo, JJs...

Just hover around long enough to keep the TAG on target and it infuriates people.

Because it is fun. Forum warrioring is far more entertaining than pokewarrior™.

My only issue is those pilots that solely rely on poptarting, especially the summoner. God damn one-trick pony, pretentious *****.
