ATMs with minimum range of 180m? You guys know they can act as SRMs/MRMs/LRMs, right?
Clan ERMLs and ERSLs have less range, and more duration than IS ERML/ERSL??
IS got some, overall, nice additions. Clan tech got rekt.

The only nice things the IS got were UACs, LFE, and maybe RACs.
So, as politely as I can put it, man: f*cking nope.

Actually, it's worse.
ATM have a hard minimum of 200 meters, not 180. Further, the damage drop off isn't equally split along the remaining 900 meters of the weapon. Oh no. You only do 3 damage between 200 and 300 meters, or so. You only do 2 damage up to around 450 meters. That means the remaining 700 meters or so, you're smearing missiles at a pathetic 1 damage per missile, with absolutely garbage ammo per ton. At least normalize the weapon system around the standard ammunition of 2 damage shells, and extend the range of the 2 damage missiles along a larger percentage of the engagement profile! I mean, wow!
This is not taking into account, even, that at long range an LRM is strictly superior to the ATM in any conceivable way, and an SRM is a superior brawling weapon under 300 meters from a tonnage and crit utilization standpoint. So you have a weapon that is unnecessarily hamstrung at a brawl, and is forced to use the absolute worst damage profile for it for 2/3 of its bracket of effective use.
Gee gee.
At least the Heavy Machine Guns are absolutely amazing. Also, the Micro ER Laser is nifty, but requires a minimum of 8 hardpoints to actually be worth it. Preferably on something fast enough to be able to get into range with it. That currently leaves only the Viper as a platform for it. If they give the Piranha in the next mech pack, that would be a great platform for it, as well. However, right now it's a superniche weapon with insufficient platforms to utilize it.

Did you even play yet? RACs look pretty cool and should throw a lot of lead down field. The PPCs give options and are well placed. Granted, the Rocket Launchers are worthless, but the rest of the IS weapons at least add variety to the game.
Micro Pulse - I suppose they will have a use... same with Micro Smalls. ATMs are a small train wreck because of minimum range and spread; for guided missiles, they seem to miss a lot, and they spread damage to EVERY component.

I KNEW I was going to come on here and find a Gyrok thread crying about Clans getting shat on. Hey at least you still have a 12 ton Gauss rifle that does 15 damage instead of the IS 12 ton gauss rifle that does 8 damage.

Eh, Heavy PPC is pretty weak, Light PPC looks pretty weak as well. Why not just use one PPC?

Actually, that sums up a majority of my "interest" in most of the new tech. HMGs are pretty inefficient versions of MGs and only meant for mechs that don't have the hardpoints to boat MGs appropriately (which is basically every mech but the Piranha potentially sadly). LMGs look interesting, but still limited. The Gauss/PPCs look pretty much horrible compared to existing versions. LBX are overly large because 'TT', UACs are burst fire and IS weapons so meh. Heavy lasers and micro lasers are more bleh. iERMLs are stupidly hot for what they offer (1.1 heat for 90m, I'll pass). Rocket launchers are still dumb outside of suicide mechs (JVN-10N I guess with 6 RL20s for 210 one shot potential?). MRMs being stream fire and not moving with your cursor just seems horrible and remind me of MW4 versions. ATMs got borked with the stupid min range (seriously, min range as a whole concept needs to die in a fire).
The only thing interesting here is RACs and LFEs.

My brief test on Testing Grounds showed it at exactly 180. 179M it was grayed and did not damage. 180m it lit up and hit.
Unless they changed it already. I tested as soon as my download completed and I ran the repair tool. Then I left to get my yard mowed before the rain starts again.
