Since the K-9 has a light bar, I believe it is time for PGI to bring back the Atlas's glowing eyes.

Man, this was such a cool detail.

Wouldn't that just make it more enticing to aim for headshots? I know I like aiming for the atlas' head whenever possible and the glowing lights would draw me in like a fly.

Well, the easy solution to this would be to just give it a toggle and let people use it within their own free will.

You know, wouldn't only the right eye glow since the left is the cockpit?

Screw the glowing eyes. I want those damage textures back.

I know that it increases the workload on the texturing team by about 7,000,000,000% but holy heck it looked awesome.

But then the Atlas would be winking.

Make it a toggle like the crab's claws or missile bay doors on the catapult. I would love to turn the corner on an enemy with my atlas and toggle the red eyes.

yeah the glowing eyes were cool as fudge back in the day..

but it quickly became a way to tell which way the other team was going.. not to mention that 6 ppc stalkers and gausstards would end up shooting at the glow and you would be cored out and dead before you got halfway into battle if they didnt manage a headshot and kill you outright in the first hit..

they were removed for a reason.. despite the fact that they were really really cool..

Maybe have them glow for a few seconds after a kill. That would be pretty cool IMO.

The game we have now is not the same game you had then.

I see no reason not to add it, especially if it's on a toggle.

It will be like an Atlas only "warhorn", if PGI release an Atlas hero with this feature, I would buy it even thought I am not a big assault pilot.
Make the grow only reach out to 300m if snipping is a concern.

It's supposed to be a feature on the Founder's Atlas, not the Hero.

Agreed. I'd be glad to replace 12v12 with 8v8 just to save resources for old damage textures. Current barnacles sumply piss me off.

Glowing eyes are the secret special spice that make the Atlas fulfill Kerensky's specification: "A 'Mech as powerful as possible, as impenetrable as possible, and as ugly and foreboding as conceivable, so that fear itself will be our ally."

Without 'em, it just looks like any other assault 'Mech. With 'em, that 'Mech rounding the corner on you becomes THAT 'Mech rounding the corner on you. Really, that's what an Atlas should be: The 'Mech that makes you wish you'd worn your brown pants, even if you brought more guns or more armor or both.

The only Atlas I held onto was my AS7-S(L), because that's the only one that actually feels like it's got the "Atlas Mojo." Even that could use a little eye glow to seal the deal. Vulnerability be damned. The whole point of an Atlas is for the enemy to know you've got an Atlas.

With the ****** server performance as of late, additional sinks is the last thing we need. Like for real.

I know, but to encourage PGI to consider adding glowing eye back to the game, I am willing to have to accept they also release a hero while also return it to the founder atlas.

I don't know if it's easy, but it's the obvious and clear solution.

In favour. Actually, I am in favour of anything that's cool.

Server performance is unrelated to glowing eyes, friend. That'd be client side only.
