Does it affect KD on leaderboard or no? Because I keep seeing this guy with high KDR keep overheat and dying in losing matches, its odd.

Probably has a high K/D for the reason some have already mentioned. Getting in those couple of extra shots when they know they will lose, and sometimes getting a kill. Then when they get a decent team instead of a CARRY HARDER team, they rack up more kills without a death. I've snagged a few kills when in override when it is was obviously a CARRY HARDER team MM grouped me with. When it is down to the last couple of targets in a roll, many players forgo preservation to chase after the last few mechs. Even when they are one hit from being destroyed themselves, making them easy kills.

If he overheats in order to do more damage and not just overheats then he bolsters his damage and thus his matchscore, potentially also killing a mech or two he couldn't have without full-berserk-override.

Please refer to my response to Lukoi.

And don't talk about dezgra and honor in MWO you Diamond Shark scum. Please, just don't.

P.S. Glory to true Clan Sea Fox.

Oh now you done it. Any pilot who actively disparages our change to the grand name of "Diamond Shark" is a traitor to the Clan, and every member of it. Our shift towards progressivism at that time made us a much stronger Clan, while also being one of the greatest jabs against a dishonorable act done to us in our entire history. It is something to be proud of.

Like those moments you kill three guys in a row and are severely overheating by the 4th, but somehow your team isn't supporting you, and you choose death by overheat over death via lack of team support, and not just because you might necessarily be out of position (which makes it more your fault then theirs), but when you get heavy and assault teammates who literally run away from front line engagements to "flank" (aka; try to use your efforts/death to max their score).

The game tracks an `engaged' state (activated for 8 seconds by dealing damage or recieving it). Thus, death from overheating while engaged should go as an accident while death form overheating while not engaged should go as griefing and count towards the team damage and TK penalties.

Fair enough. I don't see it however. Sure it happens, I think I've seen it happen once this month (albeit I don't play all that much). Still, I think the scenario both me and Lukoi describle is far more common.

Thanks! Do you think a red or blue tie would go better with it?

But seriously, I've seen a huge resurgence of MASC and overheat suicides by people who see the match I losing and go off to the corner to off themselves. If someone does from overheating during a fight? I don't mind. Good on them for trying to take someone with them. But the people that I keep seeing personally? Not those people. And OP didn't specify on his end which ones they were, so I went with my recent experiences.

the big concern I have is that a) the game suicide counter is severely flawed considering it's seeing any death as suicide for the most part, and B) the overheat mechanic as I understood it was brought in to combat the overheat bug, which is still around; yet I overheat by even one point, and the game decides that I am dead as it tends to pop a torso anyways, which is causing even more damage and destroying the mech in the process on it's own...

Could also just mean this pilot is playing balls out all the time. Redlining means you're shooting a lot, which (usually) means you're doing lots of damage. That's something a lot of players seem averse to.

The overheat bug is still very much a thing.

In a match last night on Forest Colony Classic/Snow, over half of my team including myself died from the heat bug on first alpha/redline. Enemy team appeared unaffected. Match was over in under 5 minutes, 12/1. The salt was real. It wasn't a result of spuds, team had familiar names that I know are decent players who were like "WTF!?!? Thanks PGI!!". Posted Image

Edit: grammar

I've taken to hitting override and shooting at the enemy till I pop, when I type "KILL: DENIED!" in the chat you wouldn't believe the amount of salt it generates. It's like they're upset they didn't get an easy kill with which to pad their stats.

im still not used to the whole st death thing. one second you got your heat under control, then the torso gets blasted off. and suddenly you are over 100% and loosing parts to rngesus with nay another shot fired. i dont mind if an st cleaved mech has piss poor thermal characteristics, but the runaway chernobyl effect needs to go away. i mean you just lost 1/4 of your mech and it should take whatever heat it stored with it.
