Not really it would simply force everyone to change to a dps mindset instead of alpha first. Besides without changing damage values this would make it a whole lot more difficult to destroy people, since a first alpha into a component doesn't guarantee it's coming off.

Granted it would probably have to be a sliding scale. Otherwise you simply hose lights and mediums.

Not gonna say anything definitive until I patch and play. I do suspect that TTK will be fine post change.

Another "elite" player crying.

Some things to consider here.

1.)
Elite players are the minority
Why would PGI try to do what they want?

2.)
PGI alrdy has your money basically
The new money is in real players,
every game needs growth to survive,

In other words, nubs are the target audience

3.)
Basically anything PGI implements seems to upset you
so why even try...

4.)
If you deinstall the game right now, nobody cares.

If you are unhappy with the game you should just quit.
But I guess you are to addicted to do that.

easy way to increase TTK is learn to play.

Posted Image

thats 17% of a XL med.
learn to torso twist, learn to move properly and use cover.

in fact, learn to survive and stop staring down mechs face first. i see that so many times and if i could, i would b**chslap them mechs with mine.

While I had similar games, I have seen much more games where you are dead before firing the second shot.

Just recently in a Jaeger (2x AC2, 2x AC5 with full survival tree) on HPG.
A volley of the ACs startled up the crows to look in my direction and suddendly I was dead.
I don't know exactly how many mechs turned and shot, but it must have been a bunch of laser vomits, as there was no shake of impacts.

I don't think that this is something you can get much better at without always waiting for the enemy team to focus on your team mates before you start... and I was already attacking from side/back of the formation.
How to expect anything to survive more than 5 seconds after first contact... i don't know. Then get a good team that pushes agressively and you get mechs falling all over the place.

And TBH, the whole fuss about the cSPL change is making me sick. totally over reaction, when everybody is using laser vomit or Gauss/PPCs anyway.

To be honest, I don't understand what the OP and some of the other people here are talking about..

For me personally, the game has never been better..

Skill Tree was awesome - direct control and minor buffs - Yaaay!

Ok, so mobility was lowered, but we all got buffs to structure and armor, and many other things.. also, it needed to be nerfed for some mechs, cose' powercreep got too far ahead..

Also, the game feels different, new, fresh, and most importantly.. FUN.

If I wanted to play a game in which I can one-shot people, I would play a shooter game like COD or Unreal Tournament.

MechWarrior needs to be a battle, not a fight.. and those with wisdom will know what I mean by this.

3,) Yes. Fun is getting curbed. What PGI seemingly does not understand is that mobility is equal to enjoyment.

Not for me at least, I prefer an overall slower paced game where you have to tactically plan your driving in advance rather than being able to play reflexively. Lights and mediums are still fast and agile and people who like mobility can play those.

The recent TTK increase is fine by me, it wasn't needed but it's not a problem for me. Mechs still go down in seconds under focused fire, none of the changes has really changed TTK by more than a couple seconds or so. No big deal.

The game hasnt been fun since they made it 12v12 without increasing map size or supplying game modes that functioned with this many mechs on the field.

If you're not having fun then you might consider doing something else. I know this is a wild wacky crazy thought....but just consider it.

OK That will just enough of that kind of talk! Its that kind of talk that keeps getting you in trouble...STOP IT

Obviously you don't understand PGI hates the players and they are doing everything in their power to destroy MWO.

Engine decoupling invalidated a lot of mechs.

THAT. I can live with the skill tree - I don't particularly like it, but I can work with it, it's not rocket science. What's much worse is that PGI are essentially removing mechs from the game by giving them mobility values that make them unplayable. Between the previous patch and the upcoming one, I've already lost a good chunk of my stable to engine desync, namely:
2 Kodiaks
1 Dire Wolf
2 Marauder IICs
3 Night Gyrs
That's a total of 8 mechs that I'll never touch again. And I can barely force myself to play my Timber Wolves now, because they are balancing right on the edge of being unplayable. Plus the upcoming cSPL nerf will invalidate at least two more of my mechs - the 6xSPL Jenner IIC and the 10xSPL Nova. So while some people may be angry about the changes, I'm simply sad. I'm playing fewer and fewer mechs and builds with each passing month. It just doesn't make sense, you're supposed to expand your stable over time, but mine is growing smaller instead. And I can see no light at the end of the tunnel. I expect nothing positive from the game anymore. With each patch, the only thing I can think about is how hard the nerf bat will hit my mechs, and what can I do to salvage at least some of them...

The fact they all turned to you kinda tells us that they had nothing else to shoot. And since they had nothing else to shoot it also kinda tells us all we need to know about your choice of engagement. 1 vs many always ends up in favor of many. Unless you are on Chuck Norris level of course.

Why wait instead of actually doing it the same time your teammates do? ... They might focus on you still, or they might focus on your teammates, one of you might get rekt but the rest would actually do the damage. Waiting will only get you all dead.

Which is actually the worst thing you can do while piloting a big and slow heavy. Even if you'd survive the trade any semi-capable light from the enemy team would have finished you off 10 seconds later without any chance of escaping.

When you're exclusively playing the FOTM/OP mechs you should have seen this coming though...
But there'll be new FOTM's that you can hop on. That's the thing with going for FOTM, it changes

nothing can outdo poor decisionmaking (i had those too lately, havent been playing so much and ended up 1vs 4 mechs in a king crab. didnt go well i have to say.) 250 dmg or so. sh*t happens.

the last thing i would do is blame low TTK or a new skill tree.
nothing in the game can change poor decisionmaking.
thats why you wont see me ranting about patches, nerfs or buffs.

its in my hands to change the game how i want to play it and while doing that i keep in mind that i have a team around me i can use or that can use me, even if i done a bad decision.
if i fight 4 mechs and lure them away from their team then the rest of my team should be able to move accordingly and kill the rest off.
if they arent able to do that simple math then no loadout in the world, no skill tree, no meta can help em. they simply dont get whats happening while its just basic math.

how should a nerf/buff/change actually fix the egoistic approach of too many players, not wanting to do the first step and push because they could get a bad dmg or kill stat??
wont do. but they can cry about changes all day instead of change their point of view.

No, I'm not playing exclusively FOTM mechs. I'm playing exclusively Clan mechs, and there is a finite number of those in the game. So whenever a Clan chassis gets nerf-hammered into the ground, it simply means there's one less chassis for me to play. There's nothing to be done about it. I would be happy if I could, for instance, replace my Marauder IICs with Warhammer IICs, but I can't. It's not in my power to add new mechs to the game.

Some good points.
I pug a lot or play with friends that are very noobish, so we land in group queue.
In this kinda scenario, there is much less deathballing and that means group scatters a lot. So while half the team on HPG is moving to one side of the ramps, the other half is on the other ramps (enemies were on the middle platform).

And yes, it was my fault being too close to the middle bridge when they were on the platform. It just sucks when you die before you can even notice your mistake.
TTK is very low, even with less than 1vs2.
I want battles where you can have fun and survive with 15% health instead of dying "instantly".

Spreading laser damage does not help enough against very good pilots (who can aim well) and definitely not against good SRM and Gauss/PPC boats.

And cSP boats is not the only thing that counters snipers. SRMs, cERSL and ML/MP are good enough for brawling.
But even then, all you see are laser boats with LP/ML.

I think you missed DGTLDaemon's point. A game in which a Timber Wolf is as agile as a slug is not "A BattleTech Game".

If you say so, but yeah, it's pretty hard to catch some peripheral point about mechs he didnt even mention in his post.
In fact, you may even know his point better than he does himself.
