Yes blame PGI for bullying everyone out of Marik with the latest patch.
Oh wait, that actually did not happen.
IS crybabies.

Nope PGI has done everything it could to kill group play.
I remember one our TS alone on any given evening.
We have 4 or 5 drops going.
And more people just hanging out.
Now maybe two.
PGI is not a hundred percent to blame.
People lose enthusiasm and simply move.
But PGI has not done a lot too help.
Go figure.

Marik never had a super group, like TCAF, or HHOD. It was composed of many smaller groups who usually played for fun. If CW ceases to be fun, then those groups become empty.

Wait...you are complaining at PGI when players choose which House they want to play for? Unfortunately, this is the base of the human condition always wanted to blame everyone else

It would help if PGI did something to really encourage faction loyalty.
My suggestion is faction hud, faction geometry for the mechs they're known for, and their own announcer pack.
With the Liao announcer saying "It's not murder if they're Davions." Whenever they face Davions.

The death of CW really hurt house marik . Not even counting there is zero reason to be a loyalist.
Any house marik player is welcome down in the BW channel down below the general rooms. We're not always playing but jump in and ask.

November used to be a Marik loyalist.
Then November discovered that he cant find CW matches.
So then November became a mercenary.
Now November straddles both sides of the fence like everyone else and changes sides every week depending on which side is paying out most and winning most.
November finds this a more agreeable arrangement.

The problem with CW/FW is that casual players do not like to cannon fodder for organized power gaming teams to farm EXP from.
If PGI had some sort of pick-up game mode for CW/FW where gaming groups could play together but be shuffled between the teams it may just just may work.
But then again it might not. These systems would rely upon an honor systems and probably some jerks would try to abuse it on privates comms.

No, groups on coms are what originally filled FW and what FW was there for. Teamwork isn't an exploit and putting in a tiny bit of effort isn't being a powergaming tryhard.
What killed Marik is the same thing that all but killed Davion and Liao and Kurita and Steiner. Factions were barely relevant before, then One Bukkit make them irrelevant.
What killed FW was that it was supposed to be end game content but was utterly lacking in any depth or purpose. Factions were largely irrelevant, taking worlds irrelevant, no logistics, it was just QP with respawns and a couple new maps. That's not what FW had been billed as for years prior, when everyone got sold the idea of FW as something to be excited for.
So everyone showed up, all the units showed up to see that depth and purpose and to see real relevant factions and be a part of something bigger and....
yeah. Got a bad surprise. Then PGI embraced total failure, folded it all into One Bukkit to try and cover the declining population (which in turn reduced the population further by removing what little depth and purpose it had) and has tried to forget about it while pretending they didn't forget about it.
