i just state what my point of view is in those cases and in a brawl (as no heat AC) it can really be a lot easier to have it fire automatcally so you can concentrate on the rest,

The macro is actually worse in a brawl that learning how to use the weapon.

You might want to cite sources.

Why should I need to cite sources when games as old as LoL, and as recent as Overwatch all allow macros? It should be common knowledge by now.

If PGI would just make a timing setting for chainfire in the weapons group menu, all this nonsense should be obsolete.

that depends on how much the player wants or can learn (honestly people i have tryed to train in games sometimes really surprised me and made me fear for mankind)

and LoL actually forbids scripts (other word for makros) as there are champs which became incredibly OP with it

Etiquette maybe? Basic philosophical burden of proof?

That presented without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

You have not provided any evidence of games that forbid them, so the same can be said of you.

I never said that there are games that forbid them. What the hell? So if i don't agree with his position, automatically i disagree?

I didn't have any assertion.

LoL forbids only certain scripts--the ones that are too invasive--far cry from simple AC chainfire macro. Mouse macros are 100% allowed. So are simple commands using AutoHotkey--as I have never been even warned when using it.

In fact LoL has embraced macros to such a degree, they themselves have implemented smart casts and spell radius indicators in game.

Macros are not cheating per se. No more than buying a better mouse, PC or screen is.

But don't anyone here dare say they can't give you an advantage. Even a convenience macro that replicates what you can easily do yourself frees up fingers and brain power/concentration to do OTHER things in a battle, and thus can give you a subtle advantage.

The argument that macros are a liability is also bunk because most can be toggled on or off as required, giving you the best of both worlds depending on the situation.

So macros aren't cheating, but certain ones can be a crutch that gives you a small but important advantage. Gamers are naturally lazy and don't go to the bother of setting things up if it doesn't help them win in some way.

I don't use third party "assists" though, I consider it cheating, although some call it "skill".

You say macros free up your concentration, but then say they have to be toggled to be most effective. Doesn't add up, sorry. There is no macro that can improve good, proper fire control. Put a grand on the match and I would still refuse macros, because less fire control is always worse for your accuracy. There is no "subtle advantage" to macros.

As per Code of Conduct: http://mwomercs.com/conduct

USING MACRO SOFTWARE
Keybind macro software and hardware mechanisms are permitted for use as long as such mechanisms still require manual input to initiate and do not fully automate gameplay.

This is what I get from PGI when I asked them last year whether Macro is OK or KO to use..

Add ways to set up "macro" sequences inside the game; Keybinds; Macros.

I don't see why we have to use third party programs to utilise a potential function that is allowed. I'd probably set some up if it was in game. This way we could do multiple weapon chain firing, weapon toggling, sequenced firing, etc, by ourselves if needed.

Because "allowed" is not the same as "encouraged", and it's a waste of development resources.

Waste of development resources, I guess, however long it takes to copy and paste predefined macro parameters (that exist online and specific to MWO in this very forum) into their menu UI setup.

Mainly they aren't used to gain a specific advantage, but to do things your fingers aren't particularly reliably capable of doing under pressure and to exact specifications, being able to chain fire groups, or toggle fire tag, or sequence out AC firing to a specific pattern, doesn't break the game or add a true advantage, it more opens up potential usages for weapons or weapon firing patterns in an interesting way that actually suits this particular environment (more so than many others).

I guess it all comes down to if you accept the AC2 chainfire or not, since this is the only real reason to use the macro. For all other weapons I find it has no practical use.

What the AC2 Chainfire does is:

-Delivers an increased level of suppression (Doesn't work vs brave pilots)
-Somewhat decreases your accuracy
-Slighty decreases your DPS

Forget your personal opinions on 3rd party software, and ask yourself if an added fire mode to AC2's, not supported fully by the in game, is ok with you. I think it has place in the game, as it is a tactical tool, not too effective, but fun.
