In recent thread about RAC again people quote the spinup time as bad thing.

But I can't be the only one who has realized it's easy to keep the RAC right below the firing thresshold by toggling it and then letting go just before it actually fires, and then "surfing" on the thresshold?

It's very easy even for me so it should be doable to just about anyone.

Also, when you fire RAC normally, when the gun actually stats firing after spinup, the jam bar reaches about 20% before it starts shooting. If you spinup the RAC before shooting and keep it continuously spinning, the bar will actually be lower when you start shooting. That's not a major advantage, but a small bonus to the trick of being able to shoot pretty instantly.

If you have a mix of RAC2 and RAC5 it's not perfect and you will likely shoot few times with RAC2 by accident, but it's still doable.

Why juggle a rac when you can take a regular AC and not have to juggle and have less heat without the jamming.

In my opinion RACs are good at screen shake and pushing people back into cover but outside that I feel they're not good at anything else.

Their DPS is nice at first but with the jam bar you have to either stop firing or jam which lowers their overall damage in a minute. A regular AC may not have the DPS that a RAC has at first but it seems to even out more when you consider how long a RAC jams for and how hot they are.

RAC is also pretty inaccurate. I could experiment more with it in CW, but MS is currently fighting for the Clan side.

One could see RAC's as a spray and pray area denial weapon.
Which would be ok if you could face the enemy without facetime.
We know where the problem is with that theory. You blind one, or two and in perfect mwo land they just eat it it and die.
Sadly that theory falls short in fast moving and alpha oriented matches, which is at least 85% of the games im in as the reds tend to shoot back.
Not saying RAC's can't be fun, but uac's and ac's are the better choice imho.

IMO RAC5's are amazing. They need to be used with backup lasers though (ER med's). I fire all at once, by the time the beam finishes, the RAC's start. The only issues then are heat and facetiming but I rarely see anyone take on dual rac5's. Even if one Jam's you're in a good position on a 1 vs 1 and again your medium ER's can back you up at any time. Just take dual cool down modules and you can stay in a fight. It is worth noting it's a DPS build so you need absolute accuracy to keep the pressure on but IMO it's fantastic.

Some people have said it's "hitscan" but I am not sure about this.

Haven't heard anyone saying it's hitscan.

Anyway I just wanted to mention this spinup thing, other threads are more about how good RACs are and should they be improved and by what way.

Know some players who use Duo-RAC5 which is only replaceable by Duo-LBX10 or Duo-UAC10, or even Dual-HPPC. But... it's good until you hit someone using Dual-HGR, than say "hello" to 50PPFLD alpha "comeback".

Spin-Trick is known a long time ago, it came from Gauss users.Posted Image
