After mulling over what the **** to do with the Kaiju -- cause it's just the odd one out, really alien to build over the King Crab we got used to. Then it hit me! Remembering all of the quirks the King Crab just got recently, that immense side-torso and CT armor, i think it would be more effective to spearhead. Makes sense with what it has currently, at least with the Kaiju anyways.

You will die a lot, but honestly right now i think the armor is the best resource the King Crab has. It also requires a good and coordinated team, or a literal pug lottery of cooperating teammates, ones that will support you, and a lot of luck of the map draw, and or just good positioning.

I ran with this build; Kenny, cause i die a lot and the enemies are ********, and then I can just play again like nothing. get the reference?

I might have died, but I had fun and won that day. Made me realize the best thing the Kaiju can do now -- ******* lead the god damn push. Yes it won't have impressive scores, but with proper support it can really win the game.

Nice build.

I think it's gonna shine most with civil war tech though - especially high mounted racs/heavy gauss, and light PPC's with those PPC quirks.

How this turns out, decides if I buy a Kaiju or not.

I like you style. I run mine with STD350 and 6x ML + 2x LBX10 right now but I might try your version as well.

Would be nice, but if light peeps stick to their TT rules, you get PPC damage with 2 for one tonne less than a vanilla PPC.

Also, there's 6 energy in the arms there...

Yeah my Cbill and steam crab are gauss builds but with the cooldown boosts to ballistics and the thick frontal armor I can play much more agrresively. I played it frontline before, but with the buffs to dps and armor I can really take the fight to the enemy now.

I do 6 x MPL and 2 x AC5 with XL350 engine and it also performs pretty well. I can see the use of going full brawl with SRMs, but I like some longer ranged, cool weapons as backup.

The exact same thing is true for a clueless ignorant noob LRM boat standing behind a hill and just spamming Lurms at doritos:
If the team does all the work for it, scouts, tags and narcs targets, shields it from flankers, tanks for it, gets enemies out in the open etc etc. THEN a LRM boat is the best possible Mech.
But since it's such a burden on the team with all its support requirements, it quickly drops to being usually the worst build.

How is your slow a$$ ultra brawler build different? It's just the other extreme.

It's an incredible gamble on the map, on the tactical path taken, on the enemies not having too many long range weapons, on team mates holding the line for you until you FINALLY get in position.
And if any of those tremendous requirements this build imposes are missing, then, of course, it's the other people's fault for choosing the wrong map, choosing the wrong path, not supporting you enough or even the enemies fault for "having too many boring ERLLs" (lol).

A good build is not a build that MIGHT function IF heavily supported by the rest of the team.
A good build is a build that SUPPORTS the team, preferably on ANY map. E.g. pressing enemies into cover at long range. Or getting into brawl range fast AND sneakily.

tl;dr: bad build is bad.

Kaiju is pretty alien for me for the moment, and i would even dare say that it's alien for the most of us. A total odd-one out with the hardpoint swaps, it could do even less ballistics than the 0000, and then it's not exactly that good in handling hot weapons. It couldn't dakka, and one mustn't boat lrms on 100 tonners.

It's not even about the build, it's what to do with the variant, the playstyle.

What makes it different is that LRM boats usually play passively, but spearheads play actively. LRMs are fire support, juggernauts lead the push. While LRMs dish damage, juggernauts receives them.

Considering that King Crabs are generally the most shootable mech in the game -- lets face it, they're begging to be shot more than an Atlas - the Kaiju's unique set of hardpoints offer limited choices, the brawling build is the best method of play i found to work best, since i couldn't make it do other stuffs well.

Of course there's that 2x UAC5 + LRM20A + 4x ML, but i usually get shot more than i deal damage.

Kinda have to agree here. spearheading through choke points and being "mobile cover" seems to be the best one can do with that variant.

Still have not found a good damage build so that kinda has to do for now even tho I have mediums with better heat efficiency/dps.
