I still can't, for the world of me, understand why open terrain maps are not mutable.
Even if that tech is not available using the current engine...
Just make 5 different variations of the current maps, move crap around. Yeesh.

It is not even the hottest map, but the usual pre-game chatter I have heard/seen suggests that people believe it will melt you somehow. Meanwhile the (hotter) Tourmaline Desert will get picked fairly frequently and I have never heard/seen anyone acknowledge the temperature there.
There are also some low visibility elements (dark terrain / glowing lava contrast) which encourage the use of night vision and provide spice to the game.
Why do so many people shy away from this map? I would think that MWO players would appreciate a challenge, but it seems like most people just want their cookie-cutter predictable repetition. In my mind it is like the non-thinking meta-sheep; too afraid to go outside the box.

See below. Everybody wants to play in his comfort zone. Wants to play on the best map
for his currently chosen mech/loadout so there will be only a few maps left wich will be
picked over and over again. Put that together with the voting screen and here's the problem
we have right now.

Exactly...

Please guys, don't talk about the game modes. Most if not all of them are just skirmish 2.0 and its senseless.
Topic is about the map cycle and the way that "cycle" is currently handled by pgi.
It's just senseless.
Every map should have the same % chance to show up on the voting screen (if we cant get rid if it before).
Also every game mode should be handled like this.
Ppl shouldn't be able to vote for their "comfort zones" they should deal with that what shows up
on the match screen and get ready for it.
100% random for map and game mode. Every map we have so far should get played, otherwise pgi, just delete
the not wanted and keep the clean and wide open fielded ones and see how "fun" mwo will get for everyone.

Meta picks the map. Maps being used over and over people move to the meta.
I wish they would go back to 100% random.
I agree, make game mode a vote but not the map. Sick of the same map over and over. Force people into terra therma and such. Force them to play the game under not the best of map conditions.

Yeah... so how will we be able to bring this up to pgi?

Maybe lights could be useful again when you draw a capping map. I've hated not having a game type choice since they took that away as you have to run a light several maps over before getting a capping map to play it on.

It used to be like that. That was changed to reduce queue times due to low population.

That would be a step in the wrong direction...
To deal with the maps different terrain, heat, visuals etc... is the point..
Do you wanna have a 12 vs 12 LRMs only on Polar Highlands?? How boring would that be?
Or 12 vs 12 Sniper festival on Alpine? ..because everybody wants to play in his preferred meta on
the preferred maps for that?
Please no.
Lights can and ARE useful in many ways, not only for caps..
