i have noticed a couple of odd observations in last few games in qp where 3 and 4 mechs particularly heavy or assault will pull out of the battle line just to go after me and thus allowing my team to destroy theirs. yeah i usually dont make it but i served my purpose in distractions with my stormcrow. my load is 2 cerppc and 4 cerml and while i can be dangerous over time, i dont think its enough to warrant that kind of attention. Personally i like the wins but i dont understand the logic of people doing that.

There is nothing as endless as the human's misconception of how good their idea is.

Was this during the contest period where PGI incentivized Heavies and Assaults to achieve "Kill or Most Damage" vs Lights and mediums?

It might be not so much because of the Usual PUG Activity™, but because there were offered rewards for doing so.

no it was today and not for any event. bout the only thing i am decent at besides a bit of sniping and (still getting good at it) dropping airstrikes behind a couple guys so the strike hits back armor.

Could just be a bout of foolishness.

I have, also, noticed that the fastest of the assault mechs tends to become the defacto 'leader' for the assault lance. I'll take off running in some direction in my battlemaster and watch the assaults just kind of go "... well, alright..." - unless I'm going somewhere completely stupid - then there's usually a point where they break off and do their own thing. But, for the most part, the fastest assault tends to have a lot of influence on where the team takes position on the map.

If the person with the fastest assault takes off after a Nova - the others may follow either out of a desire to not see him/her get eaten by an ambush, or perhaps under the assumption that the player has seen something more than simply the Nova to go chase. There, also, tends to be the expectation that the team will gravitate around where the assaults are doing combat. I find myself less concerned about what the rest of my team is doing while playing an assault than when I'm playing lighter 'mechs. Half the time, as an assault, it doesn't matter what the rest of my team is doing because it's going to be over by time I get there, anyway. I usually rectify this by trying not to chase squirrels and staying within laser shot of a relative center of mass for my team.

All of these little trends and factors could have just aligned with the stars today so that you were the squirrel with the golden nuts, or something, that was going to lead the way to the cache of Lostech.

I might be paranoid, but that doesn't mean everyone isn't out to get me.

It's possible they recognized your name and wanted revenge from a previous match.

People know just how little armor lights and fast mediums have and equate it to a fast and easy kill. They'd be right if only they could aim the majority of the time.

Given that last I saw he was in the habit of casually tossing around accusations of cheating, this would not surprise me.

PUG players are simple creatures, attracted irresistibly to shiny things. Fast movers using that to their advantage is a time honored PUG tradition stretching waaaaay back to those hallowed days when the very first Jenner in it's very first match got lost, and created something magical.

Probably assaults and heavies trying to get a Kill or KMDD on your for the event..

They should know better and use LRMs for that ;-)
