Since the Civil War tech is designed to, according to PGI, "level the tech bases", can we look forward to the FP tonnages being equalized among Clan and IS? I also expect many merc units to go IS taking with them a lot of the "skill gap" to that side. Moreover, since PGI has balanced the two sides based on skill, not on tech (their admission), does this follow that Clan will have even more tonnage than IS if that happens. At any rate, I do expect some "re-balancing" in FP and I do expect it to happen immediately upon CW tech release.

Equalization as in I.S. will be o.p. for 2 years to make up tor 2 years of clan being o.p.?

Remember, the primary reason for the tonnage difference not due to tech itself, though that was hinted at as a secondary reason with one of Russ tweets, but the primary reason was that Clans fielded more of the active, experience units. Of course they partially following the tech strengths, which allows them to field a larger variety of mechs. Where as on the IS side, to ensure success they are primarily regulated to a smaller variety of mechs and builds.

LFE will be good for the IS energy builds, so those running STD can up their speed and add a couple of more DHS while those running isXL may gain a tad survivibility but at a cost of firepower and speed. Remember, IS component are both HEAVIER and bulkier, shorter range and does less damage.

So again, why would most mercs extend their visit when rotating to IS side?

I hope so. My unit rotates around but is primarily IS. I hope the tech upgrade balances the sides so that the band aid of tonnage can get removed. I hate having to drop so fat I prefer lights and mediums.

Clans are gonna get nerfed again. Mostly because IS fanboys are gonna qq so hard when their shiny new LFE's aren't gonna magically make their mechs resistant to damage.

This complaining is really boring, OP this OP that.

According to PGI the balance problems between Clans and IS are partly because Clans have „higher Skill Tiered players“ and more „high-tier Units“.

because those types of players refused to commit to sub-par mechs.

Yup. Its no accident the best players pilot the best mechs.

Let’s see. Number 1 EU MRBC Team EON uses many IS Mechs during comp matches.

So, according to this logic, many of the best Mechs are IS. Why exactly are Clans OP when many of the best Mechs are IS?

When talking about the META builds balance is close enough neither Clan or IS/House mechs should be considered OP. If anybody still wonders about the dropdeck tonnage difference:
i) PGI's attempt to use Contract Payout has NOT balanced faction play one bit to encourage experienced players to switch from Clan factions to I.S./House factions.
ii) The tonnage handicap is another way for PGI to try to balance factions. See Tarl Cabots post above.
Spoiler

The Clan side will continue to be flogged by PGI until more capable units and players switch to the IS factions.

In other news: garbage builds are equally bad no matter which tech base you use; and a horrible pilot will still perform poorly no matter what mech you put them in.
