Seems like in trying to prevent power creep or not obsolete other weapons systems a lot of stuff has been made weaker than it should be. These are all due to PGI mechanic decisions:

ISLBX20/HGR - No allowance for lack of crit splitting, stuck at 11 slots and so mounting severely restricted.

MRM - All over the place, ineffective even against stationary targets per people who tested it.

RAC - Ghost heat limit of two, shared between 2 and 5. Wrecks the fun idea of boating them on certain 'Mechs. Firing 3 or 4 RAC would be hot as hell and eat ammo, the ghost heat isn't needed to discourage it.

Heavy PPC - It's already a mediocre weapon due to tremendous weight and heat (hot as ERPPC), it should do 15 pinpoint.

Light PPC - It shares ghost heat with other classes of PPC and it's at two. Again making carrying several of them pretty pointless and ruining potential builds.

ATMs - Hard minimum range at 180m makes it very difficult to use the most appealing feature, the "switch" to dedicated close range damage. Especially dumb since Clan LRMs do plenty of damage just inside 180m while these do nothing.

Heavy Lasers - Burn times are so long that they're unusable. The LPL is flat out better than the HLL and there's no reason to use 4 HML over 6 ERML unless you only have 4 hardpoints. Even then the ERML are plenty effective due to longer range and more damage actually going on target.

For what's supposed to be a huge event in moving the timeline forward, this is weak.

RAC - ghost heat should not be shared

Heavy PPC - totally or at least 15 spread out with most to where it hit

Light PPC - needs to be at Ghost heat of 4. If shared with other ppc then 2 or more lights causes ghost heat

ATMS needs to be a 90m minimum or none at all

HL need a reduction in burn time for sure

light PPC and snub nose PPC should be isolated for ghost heat, they shouldn't share ghost heat limits with other PPCs. Light PPCs should be in their own group and be at 4. Snub-nose should be at their own group and be at 3.

Heavy PPC should be 15 damage, straight up...even if it is spread out (should be pinpoint though)

RAC5 can have ghost heat with 2 RAC5s but shouldn't be tied to RAC2s. RAC2s could have a limit of 3 but should only be tied to themselves.

MRMs are fine as stream fire but they need to follow the reticle. It is terrible with it's current messed up-ness of just shooting at the same spot regardless of mech movement. The Spread needs to be decreased as well, not by a lot but by at least some

Have you used a single RAC? they are hot as hell with one.. Ghost heat is not the issue.

Honestly, i would rather have all weapons under tuned at first than over tuned. Buffs NOT nerfs!

yeah, they need to cool them down a bit or reduce the spin up speed so they can be fired differently

You hit pretty much everything on the head, GH limits pretty much ruin what could add a lot of variety.

Heavy Pepsi is useless, can be easily addressed by scrapping the splash mechanic

Heavy lasers are just sad

Putting Snub and light pepsi with their own individual ghost heat pools would be the best thing for them.

this is probibly a zero in test. they have their theoretical configuration and this is a practical test. i expect at least 2 other passes to bring the weapons into balance/usefulness.

Am I understanding you correctly that you want to be able to fire 4x LPPC + 2x HPPC +2x SNPPC without Ghost heat for a full alpha of 70 PPFDL??
This sounds crazy.

I've only tested a few of the weapons but yeah, I'm left with the impression they're being overly cautious with these new systems. I get it though, for some of them, like the RACs, it would be easy to make them OP.

Others, like the MRMs for instance, have a lot more wiggle room.
