So, it's been probably at least a year since I've played but wanted to find out what the short and skinny is on what I've missed. Any major notes someone has in a nutshell? Posted Image

Thanks for the responses already. Just a quick question, it shows I have 232,000 GXP, is that going to unlock most of my mech stuff or am I wayyyy behind. If it helps, I have about 117 million cbills.

New skill tree is live. Timeline will be advancing soon (current schedule puts it in July) to the Civil War era in terms of technology. New play modes (Escort, and Incursion). Some slight tonnage maximum tweaks for the Clans during FW.

Nice nutshell.

A few balance changes too, energy weapons were recently addressed. Lots of nerfs,a few buffs, and an attempt to bring the clans and 'sphere closer to parity. Consensus is the clans still have the advantage, but the gap is closer.

The big thing about the new Skill Tree is that you're no longer forced to buy three variants of the same model mech in order to max out your skills with them. You only need XP that comes from playing the game. A good performance during a match can reward enough XP (800) to buy a single skill node (you need 91 to max out a mech). A BAD performance during a match will likely not reward that much.

I was just watching a YouTube on this, ugh...I really had a lot of experience when I stopped before. I won't know my head from my butt about allocation. I just checked my profile (downloading the game) and there is something there about refunds. I'm guessing that is because of things I had on mechs.

It looks complicated, but once you skill up a mech or two, you should be able to get a hang of the new system. Just make sure you read the tool tips so that you know what nodes do what.

The hardest part is figuring out how to get Skill points because you'll be presented with options, so read the menus carefully. Things you bought under the old skill system will have been "refunded" to you. Things bought with XP will have been turned into HISTORIC Skill Points. Modules bought with C-Bills will have been refunded with C-Bills.

If you have a mech that was fully mastered under the old system, then it's going to have 91 Historic Skill Points you convert into regular Skill Points for free so you can fully master the mech under the new system right away.

Note that you only need SP to UNLOCK nodes for the first time (and said unlocking only takes once you hit the Apply Changes button). Once unlocked, you can switch a node off for free and turn them back on for a trivial XP cost.

Word of advice, don't use the respec button to refund all your skill points at once, just remove the points manually and expect to pay XP or GXP to take a node you previously unlocked again.

That damn button is a menace.

Yeah. If you want turn off nodes en masse, just click the top most node. Everything dependent on that node to be active will ALSO turn off as well. That means you can turn off entire branches - or even an entire tree - with just a single click.
