Reproduction Recipe
  • Mech: MAL-MX90
  • LT: 1x RAC-5
  • RT: 1x RAC-5
  • Weapon group 1: Left RAC-5
  • Weapon group 2: Left RAC-5
  • Weapon group 3: both RAC-5
  • Shoot with Weapon Group 1 and a second later start shooting with weapon group 2
Observed Result

When the shots are not in sync you get a drastic ghost heat resulting in overheat within a few shouts.

Expected Result
Develop the same heat as when shooting weapon group 3 (both RAC-5 at the same time)

Additional information
This overheating also occurs when shooting weapon group 3 for some time, having one weapon jam, continue to shoot weapon group 3 and as soon as the jammed weapon shoots again you can see the heat go through the roof.

This similarly occurred when firing a single weapon group of mixed RAC 2s and RAC 5s. also when sequentially activating multiple weapon groups of RAC 2s.

This is not a RAC problem. It is global to all weapons. See here:

Hi,
thanks for the info. It truly is strange that "unsynced" shots produce ghost heat. Can you reproduce it with lasers and AMS as well?

Oh and yes the problem could also be reproduced with RAC2 as well.

Its not just firing from two weapon groups. I just had a game where firing 2 RAC5s in the same weapon group procced a massive amount of ghost heat.

Followed this up by jumping into testing grounds, it seems as long as they are fired off sync, ghost heat is triggered. My results are similar to OP's observed results.

Has one of them jammed while shooting?
What I experienced was also triggered while shooting one weapon group. Given you're constantly firing that one group (keep your finger on the mouse button all the time) when one weapon jams and shortly after shoots again then the ghost heat will be produced.

Yep had it tested, if one RAC unjams while the other is constantly firing it puts both weapons off sync and procs the ghost heat
